Hey guys,

My ESC is a Sidewinder, and I bought a fan for it that uses screws to be mounted on. If any of you are familiar with this ESC, you will no that there are no screw holes for it around the heatsink whatsoever. I tried using super glue, but I figured that it would probably melt with the heat. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

If the heat sink fins are spaced the same as the Mamba Max , you can use 3mm screws to "bite" into the walls of the heat sink fins. Or use a screw diameter that is slightly larger than the space between the fins.

I wish it was like the Mamba Max, but it doesn't have the design of that ESC. It's actually this type of pattern:

Is it even possible to mount an ESC on it? The only person I've seen mount an fan onto his ESC is because he had a custom heatsink.

Also, how can I remove super glue off the electronics? I tried the super glue thing and it accidentally all can pouring out. Will acetone work?

Hahah, I can do that if I really want that ESC on. But how can I get the super glue out? I bought like a quart of acetone so I can soak the ESC in it and let it dry up, will that work?

Yeah, that's what I thought, but instead, I went a different way since I messed up. So basically, I ruined the casing for my Sidewinder, so I completely removed it. I dipped the ESC chip into acetone so I can remove any super glue left over. So now, I'm planning to just use heat-shrink wrap over it so it has a flatter look with a fan instead of a heatsink. Or should I keep the heatsink on and also add the fan?

you want to remove the heatsink and put a fan on the bare esc components?

you should use both the heatsink and the fan. Even with the fan, taking off the heatsink would be somewhat counterproductive.

Oh okay. Thanks!

Also, they used a white glue thing to keep the heatsink on, would anybody know what it would be?

I'm not sure what CC used, but in the computer world they use a white heatsink compound to mount a heatsink to a processor and I'm guessing that's what they used. I have been known to be wrong, though.

Oh okay. Thanks!

I've ran into a little problem. So after I cleaned up everything and it's all dry, I fixed the plug so it's shorter by cutting it and soldering it back on. Well now, when I turn it on, there's no beeping sound. Also, there's no motor response. The LED's work, but no motor response. The servo turns fine, so I know that the built-in BEC is working.

I don't see why you couldn't use screws to mount the fan between the heatsink fins.

Which wires did you shorten?

Just the wires that go to the receiver. It's the red-white-black or orange-red-brown wires.
