Just wondering if anyone has ever used any of these insect defoggers and if they actually work. Looking at reducing mosquitoes in the backyard, neighbors in the back and to right of my house they don't like lawnmowers or cleaning their backyards, they have standing water, 2-4 foot grass/weeds. Is it a lost cause?

Hate to call the city as the neighbors to the right are great people and always willing to help with anything. Just not there own yard, I mow their front yard but I'm afraid to go in there backyard as it's littered with bricks, bikes from the 80's, and various farm equipment from the 50's maybe?

Not sure about the defoggers but you could make a anonymous phone call about the neighbors yards.

If next door is that bad you can fog until the cows come home. Fogging will help kill off about,,,,, 2 mosquitos, they need to clean up their yard.. I would stand for that at all. You can try asking if both of you can clean up and see what they say.

I agree with Nikko. You'd have to explain the mosquito problem and offer to help them clean it up. An anonymous complaint would not come from someone in another town, it would only come from the next door neighbor.

Personally what my neighbor does on their property is up to them. as long as I am not hurt by it, they can do what they wish. But If its that big of an issue, might want to try to explain to them the standing water thing, and how it breeds them. Who knows they may not know that. Then if that doesn't work do what you have to do. Don't go making some anonymous call. At least have the decency to confront them first.

+1 to the above three posts. Offer to help them clean their yard and explain about standing water breeding mosquitoes that can carry disease. Then offer to help them clean up their yard. Who knows, you might find a classic '50s car under all that stuff you mentioned.

Actually lo and behold him and his son where back cutting the grass this morning, all that crap is still back there. I've asked him before about cleaning it up, and even offered help with my father in laws truck. All he said is "but I have no where to bring it to" which now I'm pretty sure he's a hoarder. I'm not going to call the city on him as I'm sure he couldn't afford the bill for the clean up and he's not the standing water problem. The lazy 20 something year old behind me is responsible for the water he's got a toilet, numerous tires, and assortment of junk, not to mention he hasn't cut the lawn since last summer.

Besides the mosquitoes don't get real bad until you go to that end of back yard, I've also found random trash back there and broken glass that I know I didn't put back there.

Oh and hey they can do whatever the hell they want on their property, but it affects me on my property then that's a problem. I've spent a pretty penny on the backyard, and the neighbor to the left really appreciates that as he's told me before the people living here before me were not desirable people. There's no fence on that said so now he gets to look at a yard that's in good shape.

I understand bad neighbors 100%, but your neighbors are like your family, you can't choose them. I always try to deal with them in a positive manner even if they get under my skin. Some people dont have the money to do their yard or get it done. Now the trash lying around is just laziness like you said, but it could be much worse. If when you approach the situation in a positive manner you don't get the response you desire, then check you law books and see if there is any type of ordinance he may be breaking and bring it to his attention. Then if that doesn't work only then would I call.

I mean at least its mosquitoes and not a crack house or something.
