Sounds like you are doing all the right things.
Just need to get the girlfriend something so she feels more secure. Maybe pepper spray? A firearm is great, but if she doesn't shoot it isn't worth a sh... She might even be uncomfortable with one?

My 'ol lady will shoot most of mine, but they are locked up. Won't even do me any good. I feel better for her to have the pepper spray.

If you go for the base unit, I have a lot of the items still new in box that I don't need, now that I've moved to an apartment. I have a few motion sensors, a never used siren still in the box. Once you look around the site, check with me before you buy from them. I can hook you up with a lot of parts.
