identify my engine

good morning,
i have had an ofna hyper 7 with the .21 for a few years now. i recently dusted it off and started playing around again. i now believe i have lost some compression in the engine. i took it apart and will most likely get a new piston and cylinder sleeve. the problem is i dont know which engine i have. after looking at some breakdowns, it looks like there are a few hyper .21's. i know i dont have a turbo, but I'm unsure if i have an 8 port or not. does anyone know how to determine the port size of an engine.

Pictures would probably help a ton. It's almost impossible to identify an engine just from a verbal description.

That's the 7 port I THINK...It looks very similar to this one http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCLD7&P=SM Personally I wouldn't rebuild it. I'd just get a new engine.

thanks for the info but maybe I'm missing something, where did you see 7 port on that website. crazy thing is, when i check ho bao website for the breakdown, a 7 port isnt even an option

I don't think they sell any replasments for them :\

IMO Its not worth rebuilding.

I would have to agree with samrsnow. It looks like the standard Hyper .21. Same as this one on the OFNA site...

I wouldn't say it junk if it runs good. If there isn't much compression left I'd just get a new engine but different brand.

Yeah just grab a new engine. If thats the .21 you might want to put something slightly bigger in it. .25 or a .28 would give it some go.

If your happy with the power of the 21, then you may want to stick with a 21. If your hungry for more power... then by all means, size up! Just keep in mind, the larger displacement engines tend to burn more fuel.

LRP makes a nice 28

Figure out what you want to spend on a new engine and I'm sure someone here can help you out whether it be a 21 or larger.
