Hi All,

I am new to the site and RC to. I have just purchased a used Traxxas T Maxx. It hasnt arrived yet but I do have some photos. It does require some work so I thought I would start looking for some spares. The problem I'm have is finding which model / Motor it has. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks, Danny

That’s not a Tmaxx, is a clone… It’s a Smartech Magic Wheel with stock engine. Hope you didn’t pay too much.

Thanks for your help. I bought it cheap as it requires some work. Is it a traxxas stock engine. Just wondering where I will get parts. Needs a flywheel and clutch bell.

Refer to the My T-Maxx Frustrations thread!

It looks like your truck does have the Traxxas EZ start tower on it but by the pix, it is on the wrong side!

Talk about a blatant rip off of the original. :hehe: I just bought a used "T Maxx" recently
with the same chassis plate, center skid and chassis braces as yours Dannyboy.

I have some suggestions to simplify things if you don't mind spending a little extra cash.

Swap out the chassis plate for a T Maxx plate. The Smartech chassis plate is a skimpy 2.75 mm thick. Way too flexible.

Your engine looks like its gonna be more hastle than its worth as far as finding replacement parts, If it was me, I'd upgrade the engine
to something more along these lines simply because theres a multitude of replacement parts and how- to guides available .

As I learned with my truck, the front and rear bulkhead assemblies, 2.5 black transmission and electronics are interchangeable with the two chassis plates.
Simply transfer them over if you decide to swap chassis.

For 175.00 give or take, you can transform your rig into a basic 4910 T Maxx with plenty of online diagrams, tuning tips, replacement parts, etc.

Thanks for the comments and help everyone. As a result of the identifcation (Thanks Snook Man), I contacted the seller and let him know it wasn't a "T Maxx". He wasn't convinced at first but did contact me later and offered me a 50% refund. Happy days. Well the truck turned up yesterday and I had it in bits today. I found a really helpful guy at my local Model shop. Sorted out the new clutch and bell etc. I got it back together and managed to fire the engine up this evening!!! Sounds ok (not that I'm any expert) so hopefully a run out tomorrow. Unfortunately living the UK the postage for USA is fortunes so will have to keep it as a Magic Wheel for now. I will run it as it is for now and see how I get on. Thanks again everyone.
