I want a truggy

Hey all,

Its been a while since I posted here...been busy with college, but I'll be coming home for a bit and I want to build a truggy.

I'd like to spend no more than $500 on the kit. I already have a Picco .28, and a full radio system with good servos. I'd like to keep it $550ish with the kit and exhuast. So, I've think I am pretty set on a Hellfire SS.

What I want to know is, is there any major weak points on it? Anything else I should know about?

Don't go hellfire AC. Go with a jammin crt. Its a good rig and its in your price range.

The Jammin is a bit too much right now. Its about $570, and thats without an exhust.

What is the problem with the Hellfire?

Any comments on the MBX5T (non-prospec) ?

I can see the mugen being a great rig. The hellfire has way to many weak points. If you do some research you'll find that its a big flop.

Sorry, I didn't get to finish my post from earlier. Every hellcrap I have seen in action has broken. I don't think what they did in the kit form is much improvement from the original. The new Mugen is supposed to be a nice ride, you can upgrade it over time to the Prospec version. The same holds for the Jammin, you can convert one to a Pro over time rather easily. Consider looking at a used Jammin' Pro and take it apart, clean it up and put it back together. The Kyosho ST-R is pretty nice too, but they pretty high.

What do you like more about the Jammin compared to the Hellfire? The jammin is not out of the question its just a bit more than I'd like to spend.

I think he's looking for the kit because he already has the engine, radio and servos. The X1CRT kit comes with all the cnc parts. Now if you could find the kit on ebay for that price it would only be a matter of the pipe. I think I could part with the stock Jammin pipe since I put a JP-3 on my Axial.32 when I put it in mine.

AC, the Jammin is sooooo much more durable than the Hellcrap. It's also soooo much more the racer than the hellcrap. A good friend of mine has a hellcrap and unfortunately I've seen the thing break more times than I have seen him on the track. He spends alot of time in the pits fixing stuff. Several others on other boards don't have too much good to say about it (hellfire). IMO, the Jammin can dance! The only problems I have had with mine were electronics so it's not realted to the truck at all.

Thanks NC, but I'd really like a kit. I wouldn't think about spending the $600 for the RTR hellfire, but under $500 for an SS version kit didn't seem so bad.
