I'm not wearing anything, the wife is home, and i took a shower.:p::D:celebrate:

As for 5k hours of vacation, it's not hard to get it in this business, every time you go to court on your off days they comp you, my department gives us the option to get paid or take the time, i choose the pay. If i take the time i would never be at work. :D

Depends which parish (county for yall) I have court in. Some pay, some comp time. Also for holidays, we get regular pay, but 1.5 hours earned comp time for each hour worked. Down here in louisiana, we like our holidays, and have tons of em. lol

Every place is a little different. You guys have a lot of hollidays, we have unlimited overtime, we can work until we pass out. But, we have very strict reg's and O.P's, more than any other department that i know of.

Thats it, I'm moving to LA. They have me on a 24 hour call..
My department is a public safety department, I'm a certified EMT, FIREMEN and POLICE.
We also are a para military department, we must follow all military rules of dress and conduct, at all times. And it's mandatory i clock a minimum of 10 a week at a health club.

We can work 18 hrs per day, 7 days a week, with a minimum of 8 hours between shifts.

Holy crap, I thought I had it rough when the lobster season is going. When everything is really slamming were doing 14 hour days 4 days a week. Mind you though, I am literally working as fast as I possibly can from the second I step on the boat to the second I step off the boat. It is a lot of work, tending to probably around 400 oversized 4' lobster traps every day. Not to mention all the banding  Even with 2 guys (plus the captain) there are days where we cannot keep up with all the lobsters, it is insane.

Anyways, I digress, That's insane you guys. How do you have time for RC? I can't believe it is mandatory that you go to a health club (I'm assuming its like a gym.)

I wish I had more time off, I work 36 hours per week and thats about 36 too many...I'm ready for retirement!

We have a membership at the gym in town, paid for by the department. They give us a swip card, during the shift it's mandatory that we go to the gym swip the card and work out, we each take turns going through out the shift. We call Dispatch and let them know we will be on PE. If we don't do it, the INS premium goes up and we don't get a pay raise, if one is to be had. It's nice, we get paid to work out and we stay fit.

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense. I first thought that you would have to go to the gym on your "off-time."

Now that I think about it I'm doing 50-60 hours a week when lobstering. I didn't think it was that much. I shouldn't complain because on average I make $25-$30hr (depending on how much we catch and the price it is sold at. it could vary greatly) and pulling in that much as a high school grad is pretty darn good.

I also go to a health club. It's Doughboy's Gym. It's right next to the Krispy Kream donut bakery.

Here's my membership shirt, just to prove it.

Yesterday's fire in your building, did you go running out with the bling thing under your arms screaming, save them save them. :hehe:

Pay raise? Lol. What's that? We haven't received a merit increase in 6 years. You would think the governor would look out for the guys who are protecting him and his family, but nope.

It's the same with me. They made me an FTO, i asked how much does it pay, was told, Your lucky we made you an FTO, you should be proud. Its a joke all over the country.

When we have a rookie, we get like $3 n hour more. It's fun though if you get a good one you can screw with. Not so much when you get the village idiot.

Haha, you guys have the "village idiot" too, thats funny as hell.. Do you guys drive around and do skirt checks also....

Nah. I take them to the parts of town deserted since the hurricane and make them clear empty houses all night. Well, empty excepts the life sized movie cut outs we strategically place in random places.

My favorite:

Me: where is your Kevlar?
Rookie: it's at home, it's way too hit to wear it.
Me: ::thunk:: ::thunk:: (two rounds from a sling shot) go home and get it you f'n retard!

They never forget it again.
