but now my truck cuts out when I get going it just dies like its not getting any gas why is this?! To lean it smokes but runs really fast. I can pull 2nd gear wheelies. It takes off then dies some also but I figure its cold.Help guy!

Sounds like you are "flaming out" as in its too lean and when you give it a lot of throttle it can burn off all the available fuel faster then the carb is feeding it in so it just dies. Try richening the high speed needle a couple hours and see what that does.

Yeah too lean on top. Running in cooler temps can lead you to believe otherwise and sometime mask what the problem is.

Thanks, I will richen her up. My truck also revs without moving sometimes why is that?

That's most likely a clutch issue. When its doing that have a look at the engine and see if the flywheel is moving, if it is but the clutch bell is not then the clutch either doesn't have enough revs to engage, or it is slipping. If it is turning then the problem is further down the line somewhere. Give us some more details and we'll give you a more guided look at things.

No worries on the smoke post, don't be afraid to ask.

when I was doing the spur sunday I took light sand paper to the clutch it was smooth as a babys ass(I have a 11 month old couldnt pass it up). could a bad clutch eat a spur gear? It did it after a little jump and before it did it then also.

I got the mesh good now and used JB weld, on the motor and tranny.I think thats what ate the spur before. this time it sounds like the clutch. I was hoping the sand paper would fix it, does not loook like it did for long. that engine and my setup is hard on the clutch I think.

I richend it up 1 and a half turns and she runs better than before ...thanks guys....now to figure out the clutch.didnt do it today, could tuning have helped?

1 1/2 turns?? That's alot but if it's running good then leave it. Think of the needle as a clock and when someone says adjust an hour or two that's like 1/12th of a turn.
