I have no luck with the truckzilla

Not likely!!!!!! Hahahahaha
Mind you......... If you invited me for a holiday in Hawaii then you could admire my shiny Truck for a week or so.......... ;-)

Sweet, I finally made some progress. I called up hotbodies today for the part number I needed. Apparently they redesigned the .46 engine so it's a new one. They're going to be sending me out a brand new pullstarter and backplate free of charge.

Once I get it, then i'll just install it then send the engine right back for warranty work...lol

Thank you Savage_SAVAGE for the input. Good news here as well. I tried using fuel with 14% oil content and the bogging disappears (I also fitted a fresh OS #8 glowplug by the way). Now all I need is a proper throttle linkage and put the return spring back on. Then I'll finish the break in process and see what breaks, lol.

I believe the spider gears I got were well cast, but there might be some defective batches.

I really like the long TVP (even though my fingers got cut handling them), and the huge chrome wheels look awesome (I'm also thinking of getting the new Traxxas REVO wheels though, but not sure if they'll fit). So if I'm giving up on Truckzilla, it'll be the engine that goes (might replace it with the Wasp .28).

Cool, glad to hear it runs at least!
I have a sneaking suspicion that the lad at my model shop has a huge cocaine habit, that's why he has to empty my pockets every time I go in.......

As for wheels, I did have a little problem with the Truckzilla ones, I bent one almost straight away, no worries though, I just sold them on ebay!!!!! :devious:
I've now got Proline Mambo 40's on, with Big Joes tyres and have to say they're mega!

Keep at it, it'll al be worth it in the end!

I think I'll be getting a .70 engine for mine next, got to try it.........

Need to find reliable diffs first though. :hammer:

I don't own that truck anymore, Couldn't deal with the pull start breaking on me all the time. I Sold it to one of my friends which has improved the look of that Monster. Will post some pictures of it soon.

Sorry to hear that. I also snap the string on the pullstart several times, I had to take it apart and tie the string back. Then I started using a heat gun (hair dryer will do) to warm up the engine before I start it, so the string is easy to pull and the engine will fire up almost immediately.

I guess I'll make use of the rotostart kit and replace the pullstart if it goes beyond repair.

Regarding the Truckzilla wheels; I haven't bent mine yet, but they do look fragile indeed. Steering is also very poor with those wheels, even though I use a 12kgcm metal gear servo for steering (probably it's the stock servo saver).

I'm thinking of getting those shiny Traxxas REVO wheels and tyres, but not sure if they'll fit though. So if anyone has ever tried, please let me know^^

Some people replace pull start strings with stronger string so that they won't snap. Of course, if you're pulling it right off the end of the spool, then you're probably pulling the string too far. You really only have to pull it a little bit to get the engine to turn over a couple times.

It wasn't that I was pulling it too far. It's a .46 a pullstart is not good enough for it to start. These engine are used on Airplanes and require a tourque starter. I know some people might love this engine but I like my picco and wasp .26 less trouble to deal with.

Stronger string would be a good idea! I never pulled the string too far, but the .46 just has that much compression it gave me blisters (and some biceps exercise). The hairdryer helps though, and if it's still hard to pull you might want to loosen the glowplug when starting (but I don't like this idea).

Doggie you need to complete the modification to your zilla you got a more powerful servo now you need a stronger servo saver try the mp servo saver mod !! Best 15.00 buck I ever spent now my truck turns on a dime.

Thanks for the advice^^ The MP servo saver mod seems like a good idea, but I'll have to order the bits from Tower since my LHS doesn't carry OFNA parts. I guess it'll have to wait a bit.

Gah, and I've just bought GPM aluminium steering set a few months ago. Probably it can be used for 4-wheel steering mod (if only I know how to do it)

Doggie, another good hop up for the zilla .46 engine is the HPI ribbed pipe. Man dude what a difference this pipe made on my truckzilla big increase in performance!! I had to change my driving style!! I ease on the throttle now because if I nail it the truck filps completley over!!

Hmm, I'll consider the ribbed pipe^^ At the moment it doesn't seem to go fast enough to get into second gear in the transmission's factory setting.
