I just picked up my Savage SS for the awesome LHS price of $345!

I didn't even open the box yet. I had to get my pit area (dining room table) ready after working on my Storm.

I didn't buy any electronics today, but I plan on getting a Hitec 645MG for steering and a Futaba 2PL radio.

Is there anyting I need to know about the Savage before I put it together, like adding diff lube, shock oil wts, etc??
 
Enjoy putting the Savage SS together. If you can take some pictures during the build process. Let us know if you run into any problems.

The radio you selected looks very nice. The only downside (if it is one) is that the radio is AM instead of FM. And it doesn't have a 3rd channel. I am guessing you don't plan on getting the reverse module for the Savage?
 
No. I don't plan on reverse. I did the FOC in my T-Maxx too.

The AM works out for me since I have a second 2Ch AM receiver in my Storm, so this way I don't need to spend more $$$ on the radio system. I haven't had any problems with AM, especially using fail-safes.


I may try to take progress pics. There are a lot of parts!! The last kits I put together were a Micro RS4 and a Losi XX-T.
 
sounds like fun!!:breakdown i always like putting new things together. tell us how it goes and take some pics if possible.

good luck,its a pretty simple build,excelent instructions and when you finally do get finished,you can't stop galking at your acomplishment!

This is as far as I got last night.

I disassembled the diffs and put in 1000wt in the rear and 5000wt in the front. I like the way this is going together and the parts quality so far!

That'll be a nice ride, Darth. Is that purple the aluminum? Purple aluminum chassis?
 
That is cool, You will in joy the truck if u look in my gallery u can see four pics of it. I built it allready. Broke it in. and starting to tune it... boy is it fast, my step dad just got the 21 it is also sweet. i broke the break at spur gear...but it is all fixed maybe i will bash with it tommorw and record it.

Some of the aluminum parts are purple. The parts you see purple are all aluminum.

Yes I am. It helps that the stock HPI color is purple!!

Here is the completed chassis ready for the electronics.
I need to stop by the LHS for a servo first.

I've started building the shocks and will probably finish them tomorrow.

This kit is very easy to assemble and is going together very fast. Keep in mind I'm an experienced builder (Call me Bob the Builder LOL) and the diffs and tranny are pre-assembled.

Why wait..... Mow some lawns, rake some leaves, clean up a few yards.... Dont sit around & wait for your parents to buy it..... Earn it, you'll have more respect for it.[

LMAO at the purple theme. It never ends with you , does it darth?? lol.

looking good so far. I am a bit suprised that u mentioned the diffs being preassembled. I wonder why that is?
