LMAO at the purple theme. It never ends with you , does it darth?? lol.

looking good so far. I am a bit suprised that u mentioned the diffs being preassembled. I wonder why that is?

I think they assemble the diffs and tranny because it saves a lot of time.

Looks like I'll be able to make more progress today.
My LHS found their last remaining 645MG for my steering duties.
I also picked up some Trinity 20wt shock oil because that "oil" that comes with the kit sucks. I also bought some nice GS fuel line 'caus the stock stuff is a little stiff for my tastes.

The SS comes with two different sets of wheel hexes and I think one of them is the upgraded set. I'll post pics later today for comparison.

i have to wait B/C i just bought a RS4 rtr 3 got to save some money up. and pay off the rs4 i have a job just bills are alot rent and crap . i wish my parents would buy it :nono:

More progress. Did I say I realy like this kit??? :D

Now it is starting to look like a Savage. :) Are you going to run with the stock engine or are you going to part with it on eBay and go with something else?

I don't see anything wrong with using the stock engine, so that is what I'm going to use.

I want to get a center skid and a tank guard. Any suggestions?

I found a nice tank guard and skid for $18 a piece at www.integy.com I think I'll order them up at the LHS.

I mounted the shocks last night and I'm hoping to finish everyting up except for painting the body. I haven't decided if I'm going to use the stock wheels or try some aftermarket stuff for fear of the drive hexes.

Darth- That is looking sweet. I love the idea of a kit. Nice to see HPI doing it right.

Hello Traxxas can you hear me now? No, oh I guess I'll send my money to HPI then.

OK. I finally took a pic of the drive hexes.
I got 2 sets of drive hexes with my SS, one set in the parts bags and one set attached to the manual/stickers bag. HPI was also nice enough to include lock nuts and drive pins with each set so I have spares!
Anyway, the hexes in the parts bag are on the left and the ones attached to the manual are on the right. Notice that the ones on the right have raised lines which I think are to help grip the wheel. I beleive this indicates that these are upgraded hexes. I test fit them in the wheels and the hexes that are on the left had some back and forth play in the wheels where the ones on the right had no play.

Just about done. It's a little difficult with a 7 week old baby around to get things done. It still needs a radio system, but the pic shows my most current progress.

hey darth racer i have a question for you...... did your kit have two different colored drive cup things mine has me putting the black ones on the right and the silver ones on the left and the wheel nuts are color coded as well and i really have no idea why. so if your SS kit is like this and you know why it is please tell me

The silver ones are reversed thread and the black are standard. It's to help keep the wheel nuts from comeing loose.

Yes, they are colored like that because one set has reverse threads on them. This is to help keep the wheel nuts on, so be very careful to follow the instructions!!
