RC Driving Style
Well it was supposed to be for graduation, but my dad said I would enjoy it more now. I got it last night, its a 2004 Mazda 3 Hatchback and the color is Lava Orange. It looks so cool. It is the best thing i ever gotten my whole life! I am going to be modding and upgrading that thing until i go broke. Only things I have done too it was add 2 12" rockford fosgate subs and a rockford fosgate amp which is 1000 watt. I hope by christmas time, i will have enough $$$ for a sunroof. I will post the somes pics up once my dad gives me back my cam. :dance: :breakdown
 
well its both. i dont know if they have them in other cars, but its a standard, but you can switch gears like a stick if you push something. i only use standard becuase i sux at driving sticks.
 
congrats but is it like a tiptronic tranny? This is the protoge 5 station wagon?

damnm dude you got one cool dad,dont go getting your self killed with that car you need to some serious thinking on that, its not and r/c and one mis judgemnet and your a goner so congrats on the car and just drive safe

yes your mill went out on monday, thought I told you? sry for not telling you, you should get it tom. I am going to be thanking my dad until he gets sick of IT! I will be extra careful drving that thing. Its got power!
 
Any plans on taking it to a local autocross Pissant? I been talking bout taking my car (02' Civic Si hatchback) but been waaaaay too busy with two jobs... thanks heavens I finish up the old one tonight. maybe next season
 
If you had a standard, you'd beusing a clutch pedal. You have what many call a tiptronic, an automatic in any other automotive enthusiast/purist's dictionary.

BTW, congrats on the new car. Just remember, you get into accidents when you're over confident. I learned that after an accident, 6 months after I got my license.
 
Congrats bro. For graduation my father said..."Congradulations my oldest, You have no idea how proud I am of you" but no material gifts. My parents don't believe in giving their children $$$ gifts for things like Graduation and in hind-sight, I really respect them for it.

As for your tranny, I haven't specifically driven any new Mazdas other then the RX-8 with a manual(bad ass). The Porsche Triptronic could be profoudely different in engineering desing from your tranny. My lil bro has a Lexus IS300 with an Auto-stick but I'm not sure what they call it. I actually prefer the "auto-stick" tranny on my Brothers LExus to the Porsche Triptronic that I drove on the new Porsche 911 Turbo(996). I really don't care for the Porsche Triptonic and the Lexus IS 300 has been the first car with said similar tranny that I've actually liked.

Enjoy and post some pics already. Mod it all ya want but for the love of Humanity..no ghetto chorme or similar gay upgrades. Their's a reaons that exotic sports cars don't come from the factory with chrome..lol. Alloy rocks.
 
Heres a tip.........dont bother with crappy neone lights, decales intakes and such stupid things. MazdaSpeed makes a turbo version of that car, go ahead and find the parts u need and just turbo it. Most anythign else isnt gonna do jack poop........TURBO!
 
i thought mazda only had the turbo for the 2L motor in the protege 5. the mazda 3 has a newer 2.3L with 160hp (i think). the car handles really good but beware! the stock (goodyear) tires suck. i just got a maxda 3 a while back and i love it. the day after i got it i found out it was available in orange so i was pissed at myself for not doing enough shopping before i wrote the check. i may still end up getting an orange one if i see one sitting on a lot somewhere. congrats on the ride. yer gonna love it.

I agree with WasteLand for the most part but hey it's your ride. On the block in your Mazda you'd be lucky to c a 1hp increase on a Dyno from an Intake. All they do is make allot of noise which some love and some hate. Very High horsepower naturally aspirated applications are another story with intake.

Just don't turn it into a Ghetto ricer for the love of Humanity.
