Hi guys I need to pick your brains a little :hammer:
I've just brought a brand new savage25 And i put a picco26 engine in it.
Now i broke the engine in for between 5-6 tanks of fuel. It runs ok but thiers a bit of a problem.. When the cars cold it runs Amazing wheelies power everywhere but it seems after about 5-10mins use it looses its bottom end the low down power is not as snappy no wheelie :bored:
But its fine on topend.. I thought it may of been a problem with the gears cos it was changing very early but i adjusted it so that it changes later and still no joy..Maybe its a bit lean I dunno Also the engine didant come with a glow plug and the only new plug we had was a standard traxxas plug so would that make a difference to how it would run also..
Can anyone help..?
Cheers Andy

I would try a cooler plug, like an OS #8. Do you have a temp gun? What are the temps after it has warmed up? It sounds like it might be running a little lean.

Make sure you run the recommended plug. You should run a long medium temp glow plug without idle bar like Ofna/Picco #51007. The Traxxas uses a small block and that is a hotter plug than you should be using in a big block.

Take temps off the motor when it is running good and take the temps again when it starts to loose power. That should tell you a lot. You should not have messed with the shift point.

The OS#8 might be too hot. You might be better off using an A5.
