If it were me, right away I'd rule out the T-Maxx, strictly on a reliability factor. I've had one before, and it chewed engine mounts and spurs like they were fuel.

That leaves the HPI and the AE. Either one, really, is going to make you really happy you got it. I have the Savage .25 (second rendition of the Savage), and I couldn't be happier. I have added the 3 speed transmission, as well as numerous parts from the X, so it's really more of a mutant. It keeps up with Revos' easily.

The AE, on the other hand... I don't have any personal experience with it, but from what I've seen, it's a good quality truck.

Both HPI and AE are really good companies; I actually have 4 AE models (RC10B3, RC10T3, RC10GT, and RC18B), and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Both the MGT and the Savage have a multitude of aftermarket parts, and on top of that, are tough, right out of the box.

Plus, if you're craving power, the MGT and Savage have big-block engines from the get-go. No conversion kits needed at all.

Speed is going to be roughly the same.

I was looking at pictures of the savage and it looks like the the bottom is exposed. Will that be a issue?

Not really. For about $10, you can get an RPM skid plate that covers up the bottom.

I've had no issues at all with the exposed underside. It also allows you to clean the truck easier.

I've never had a problem with the center and I've ran my savage in mud rocks just about everything. Its you really want to though you can pick up a RPM center skid for about 10 bucks, guaranteed for life.
I recommend the Savage best R/c I've ever owned.

I have had both trucks and the savage is the way to go,very good truck and lots of hop ups for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!good luck
