might sound stupid,

what surface can you take off and land on etc. grass, asphalt, rock

how hard is it to fly. do you just got to get the hang of it?

how do you charge the battery or do u use aa, s

how long till ou have to rebuild the engine.

thanks in advane

i didnt want to steal wanna's thread away from him because i had all of these q,s

if your a total noob at the air, your best bet is to get the simplest electric there is, and work your way up. My 1st plane was a nitro "trainer" but was still way to advanced. Ended up costing me alot of money till I relized I needed something easier than that. Then I got a Firebird scout, which taught me alot actully and gave me a good grasp at flying. ($50 at hobbyzone) then I got a 3 channel electric and learned more with the rudders and such and then went to my nitro trainer. Then eventually I went to a p-51 mustang, and a couple others. Big thing for me was thinking I can handle more than I actually could. Keep it simple. Also if your really serious get a Flight Simulator. They help alot too.

Also alot of the electrics are hand tossed, or asphalt. (Hand toss is easiest)
Flying a plane is something that is a skill. Its not for everyone and not just anyone can learn it. Its something that has to be taught, and isnt to common to just "Pick up" on it. Nitro anyway, Electrics are so advanced these days, a child could fly them.

The batteries are just hump packs, so its same as nitro.
The engines seem to last longer than a Rc car/truck. Alot less resistance.

I don't have any electrics yet. Maybe someone else can help on that. Tell ya what I can.

Better off in short grass, smooth and no rocks. Asphalt is good to take off, but the plane rolls forever on landing. I have a buddy with this. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHCJ9&P=0 Told me he can take it off on a picnic table. Grass has to be real short for it to takeoff, but can be done. May have to be hand launched if it won't roll. Pick a place with very little trees. Mine always ends up in one, anyway.

Get an instructor!! Not that hard to fly. Harder to fix if ya crash! Find a club and let the guys help ya.

Like the cars, you can go with different batteries, brushed or brushless engines. I have thought about getting an electric. Looks like by the time ya get all the support equipment, ya could have a .40 sized glow powered. I can be flying while your pack is on charge. Don't get me wrong. I'll still be getting one if I get back into it.

More than likely the plane would be history first.

Hope I answered a few of your questions. Here is a forum. http://www.rchangout.com/forums/index.php? Good luck.

well all I know is that you have to be REALLY careful about the wind, any wind can really mess things up... BIG TIME!

This is what I fly. It's my first plane and it works pretty well. It needs a bit more space to fly, but it's not overly fast. You can do basic loops and maybe a barrel roll. It's nice for a leisurely fly. You'll need at least a football field to fly it in. It's made of EPP foam so if it breaks you can glue it back together. By now, my plane is mostly glue. The nice thing is that it comes with a Hitec 3-channel radio that you can reuse if you decide to get another plane.

thats nice but I'm going with something really cheap, for the room i got is mabye total of 200 yards

These fly good in the larger version. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDWX8&P=0
I flew one similar to this. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHCJ2&P=0 flew great. Real slow.
This is a good flier. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByCategory/Product/Default.aspx?ProdID=PKZ1100

You have said 2 things that don't go together. "Cheap" and "RC". Just like cars. Buy a duratrash or a smartech if ya want cheap. Most expensive plane I have was about $600. Figure I have about $550 in my Savage. Stock. I work on cars more than I have worked on any plane.
These are simple, fly good and cheap too. http://www.spadtothebone.com/freeplans.htm
Might check out this forum too. http://www.rchangout.com/forums/index.php?

Wish ya the best o luck.

my trainer was a Firebird scout and I got it from Hobbyzone.com It was $50 and I learned alot from it. Thats what Id recommend.
