Hyper 7 set up help

Ok.My buggy will be here tomarow afternoon.I got a hyper 7 with lots of pro stuff for 145.00.I was wondering were I go on the net for good set up advice on the hyper.I will be racing on a sweet track that has lots of jumps and the dirt is black goo.Very sticky and not a traction problem with crimefiters.The stright away is about 145 150 ft long into a burm.:shrug: How shoud I set this thing up!Thanks

The best advice is to go and see how the track pros have theirs setup. No use in trying to tell you what works for us when we don't race at your track.

Chances are that the local track heroes will have the home turf dialed in. Why experiment when the work has already ben done for you.

Well Its a new track and there's mostly 7.5's out there.There is only on other hyper out there.I already know what Tires in need.:whack: :whack:

DO some heavy searches on the internet. Try the manufacturers site and see if any of the pros have their setup sheets available.

Your buggy should have a "Generic" setup in the manual. if all else fails this is a good place to start.

Well I'm New to this site (got banned from another site because i tend to talk my mind) And had to put my 10p's worth in on this subject.

O.K. then heres a few tips for you regarding Hyper 7 set ups and Modification.

First up a lot of us fit the Alloy rear chassis brace as a must have on the 7, yet most of us leave the weak bolt in place that holds it in place and bends causing the chassis to flex and reducing the effect of the brace. My tip is to use a front suspension pin to hold it in place and secure using 2 c clips, you will need to ream the brace out for this to work.

Secondly the front bumbers tend to break very easily and when you buy them you get a rear one at the same time yet i have never broke a rear bumber. The good news is that the rear ones will fit in the front and offer amble protection for the front gearbox. Saving Money and offering good looks at the same time.

Third the Brake balance adjustment is a bit tricky on the 7 so what i tend to do is not to put a bit of fuel pipe on the end of one linkage and a bit on the other linkage giving a more defined braking effort front to rear.

Forth Drill the shock piston disc's out to 1.5 mm (std is 1.2) this will aid dampining effect and give better suspension response

Finaly stick some 7,000wgt oil in the center diff, 5,000 in the front and run either 1.000 or neat grease in the rear.

And of corse the best tip is " Stear in the other direction when your about to hit something":thumbup:

OK I have had the buggy out to the track twice now and I have some questions.First i will tell yha what's it doing.The back end seems bouncy in the woops(hammered straight away) and then the rear end washes out .If you stay in the trottle it will fish tail down the rest of the stright away.If you back out it will spin out.The buggy has the stock springs and the track I race at has sticky black dirt with lots of jumps.What should I look at first?

Shock weight oil. Do you know what weight is in the rear springs? Do you have a rear swaybar? You might need to tighten it or go stiffer, I would address the stock spring issue as soon as you can as I never met a pair of stock springs I liked! It took me about 30 hours to get the setup that I like. I am new so it took me some time testing, tweaking, and driving before I found a good feel on my track.

Have to Humboldt has hit it on the nail, But i would like to add the following>>> Have you drilled the shock pistons ont from 1.2mm to 1.5mm? This will increase the response of the shocks and have you put diff oil in the center diff? This will ensure a more even transfer of power front tp rear even if the front/rear becomes unloaded.

I havent had the diffs aparts yet.I orded 1,3,5,7000 diff oil. blue springs and crimefiters.The other day I put 35w oil in the fron and rear shocks.Yes it has a sway bar but in the rear only.Also this hyper has all the ofna hop up's except the cnc rear carriers and the trosen diffs.And no I haven't drilled out the shocks yet.I need to find the right drill bit.I am going to start working on the motor in a bit to get the poor idel taken care of.
