I grab this 2600 mah hump pack up for my mbx5t and went to charge it(Charger is a prophet plus dymanite charge). I hooked it up, hit the red button and fast charge it goes. Chargen at 2 amps it beeps when it hit 542mah and goes into trickle charge.
So knowing it can be charged full, I hit the buttom again, it beeps at 832mah, so I hit the red buttom again. 1600mah and it beeps again, and this pack is hot, were talking 180-190 and I'm still 1000 mah off of full charge.
So I'm thinking perhaps it had a charge already and it had 100 mah in it plus the charge I done thus 2600 mah.
I drained the battery and going to try again. Is there a mah tester so I can tell how much it has in it? I have a volt tester but it doesn't read mah.
Thanks for info.

A new battery will often "false Peak" which is what it sounds like is happening to me. This is completely normal. It will take a few charge and discharge cycles before the battery will accept a full charge. You may also want to take your charge rate down to like 1 to 1.5 and try it again. That is another thing I have learned... that when you have a new battery you may want to start at a lower amp setting for the first few cycles until the battery is "broken in". What you are experiencing is normal. Also the reason your pack is so hot is because you keep throwing charge at it. Drain the battery, let it cool, and recharge. Do this a couple of times and you should be ok. Hope this helps.

yup you are hittin that thing way way to hard at 2. amps--I think 1.5 is pushing it--run from .5 to 1.0..it is false peaking because you are hitting it to hard in my opinion.

sirmaxxalot hit it on the head; nimhs' don't like the be charged any faster than 1.5 amps or so. Anything higher than that WILL overheat the cells and kill them FAST.

Also, it's perfectly normal for nimhs' to false peak constantly. Just charge, drain, and charge... After a few cycles, they'll "wake up" and take a full charge.
