Hi.

Bought a HSP buggy from NitroTek a few years ago. Messed on with it trying to get back into the hobby after stopping in my early teens. The buggy was great from what I remember however now after sitting for about a year it seems to idle fine until my radio gear is connected. When it connects it seems to rev up from idle but not move anywhere. I understand the not moving could be due to the clutch which I am happy to replace however could it be to do with the strand revving up as soon as the radio is connected? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Firstly lower your second channel (throttle) trim of your transmitter. Then, make sure all gearing is moving smoothly. If so, start the engine once again and apply half throttle. If the car still doesn't try to move, it has to be the clutch.

Thanks for the advice. I got into the garage today to have a mess on with it. Seems like the throttle trim was already set to as low as it will go. As soon as I made the smallest adjustment to it, the engine ran away with itself and just conked out. Still no movement so I’m assuming that part is a definite clutch issue. Could this be a transmitted/receiver issue?

That means that the servo arm is set wrong. Set your trim to default, unscrew your servo arm, remove it and then place it back correctly so that the carburetor throttle slider is pushed in.
Definetely not an electronics issue👍🏻
If the engine is revving very hard, the car is not going forward, the brakes aren't engaged and if all gears turn smoothly, check your clutch

Never looked at it that way. All a learning curve. I’ll give it a crack on Friday 🤞 thanks for the help!

This sounds correct.
Be sure to double check that your linkage is also adjusted correctly after you move the servo arm back.
Double check that the servo and arm aren't stripped/damaged while you have it apart.
Verify that everything is adjusted and your brake works before you even start the car.
Always always ALWAYS turn your radio on BEFORE you start a nitro car!!!!
Nothing quite as terrifying as an 1/8 scale monter truck doing 50mph with no driver!!!
Runaways can and do happen!
I would prob just check out the clutch after sitting for years anyways. Rust and bad springs happen too. 😐
