I don't see any talk about the HPI trophy truggy. Is that an indication to stay away from?

I actually think its a nice truggy http://www.hpieurope.com/graphics/kits/kitpages/101153/chassis.jpg

From looking at this photo, i do think it could have better CG. seems like everything is mounted to the left of the chassis . If you look on the other side of the gas tank there is just an open void of chassis so i beleive they could have mounted the tank more towards the center of the truck atleast.

But .. all the low CG and race type stuff means nothing if your just going to buy this truck for bashing .. if your going to do track racing i would maybe prefer something else but over all i think its a nice truggy. going to try to look and see how many races this truck has won just to see its race history.............................http://www.competitionx.com/new-rc-vehicles/hpi-trophy-4-6-nitro-truggy/ ok so it seems like over all a pretty decent truggy.. nice power plant aswell... it has basically a savage motor in it so that would be FUN !

I'm not sure if your looking for the flux or nitro but the nitro seem to actually have a pretty good racing history apparently.

Well I Do know that hpi is considered a bashing brand and that they normally sell their racing stuff under the hot bodies brand. I think the actual hpi truggy is more durable but not as fast. I read somewhere it shares some things with the d8t though. I hope this helps

Yeah thats waht i plan on getting personally... for my first truggy I'm saving up for the hotbodies d8t kit.. put my savages 4.6 in it.. and since it doesn't come with radio or servos ill buy some servos ill buy some stock ones and have fun at the track.

So the Hot bodies d8t and the trophy are essentially the same?

Not in my opinion, they are actually completely different. Its just an alternate route .. The d8t is a fully race truggy.. it comes as a kit that you have to separately buy a motor, radio, receiver, servos, starter box, and exhaust pipe and battery pack..

HPI trophy truggy is a basher and the d8t is fully race inspired truggy that is built strickly for race.

heres the difference between the two

This is the HPI Trophy truggy... notice how it has large bumpers, not to much attention to CG.. I personally believe you COULD race this truggy but it was most likely intended for bashing.

Here is the Hot Bodies D8T

Notice how there are no bumpers ( because its just for the track and nothing else) also the CG is excellent. Also if you notice everything is all put in the middle of the chassis thats why there is a void of chassis behind the motor. everything is centered nicely.

Its just the trophy truggy is mostly basher

Hot bodies D8T is all race. the reason it comes in a kit is because usually racers when they get a kit like this they want to be able to choose specific engines/servos/radios etc etc.
