I'm new to this but I bought my truggy a couple of weeks ago got told by the shop everything was set up and found out to my horror I was lied to as last Sunday my truggy reciever battery got low and the truggy proceeded to race off , but it's got a buit in failsafe I thought well yes it has but It wasn't set up . Well luckily it didn't hurt anyone and also it was stopped before it was damaged . I have since set up the failsafe and checked by switching the radio off that it works but how do you check the reciever failing will activate it tried switching power off but nothing happens please help as am worried about using the truggy now

A fail safe can not help if the receiver fails or in the case of a battery disconnection to the receiver.
The only recourse for those instances is a throttle return spring.

So if the battery runs low in the reciever failsafe can't help?

No I didn’t say that... Low voltage cut off if present in the radio system should engage the failsafe if the batteries in the transmitter or receiver get low.
If the battery switch to the receiver is turned off or the battery becomes disconnected/fails the receiver can not then engage the failsafe and the throttle return spring is the only option.

Ah ok thanks that explains why I can't check it sorry for being dumb

I would suggest if you can't figure out the problem I would contact HPI for a posable replacement.
