whats up

I'm planing on gettin the stage d kit over winter and i dont know what engine would run the best in that situation?

i was told to get an OS 18 CV-RX and 4 dollar engine mounts and be done with it!?! any other opions??

HI,

The OS 18CV-R is a great motor for the nitro3. It's got plenty of power for a great price...Best bang for the buck .18 IMO. The giant cooling head should also help since you'll be doing mostly tire burning and that sort of thing. Good luck

btw...don't go putting all that money in upgrades just to use those cheap $4 cast aluminum mounts. Take a look at those from Wolfpack radicals, powerline racing, etc. you could end up getting some nice heatsink ones for around $20 (the hpi heatsink ones are overpriced IMO).

well the info is very helpful but i can't seem to find the motor mounts for the os cvrx!?!
possibily post a link to the exact part? for a newb

Ok well here you go,

These are for the powerline pullstart motormounts (a copy of a design from Wolfpack Radicals) decent quality, good price...just make sure you replace the cheap phillips head screws before you install them as they are really soft metal and strip easily

The wolfpack radicals mounts can be found at wolfpackradicals.com look under rs4 3 and you'll find everything from chassis to ntc styled 2speed. Good luck with your ride lmk how it turns out

how do you plan on starting the car with the stage d kit? would you have to start it with the body off?

I have the 18ss rs4 3 kit converted to stage d. I'm telling you that engine revs. The wheels dont stop spinning at mid throttle. Haven't mastered it yet, actually broke like 4 wheels slamming into sidewalks lol. Those deep dish wheels are horrible in crashes. Just bashing around trying to get some sick hugh speed drifts around sewer covers, thats all i have here in the city to try to drift around:loser:

And yes you do have to take the body off unless you convert to rotostart. But IMO this kit is great it really does the trick. I bought Stage D tires before I purchased the kitand put them onthe stock rs4 3 chassis, and boy all i did was doughnuts that ripeedmy front end of the lexan body off lol. Now with the design to move the enigine mid chassis and the different length of dogbones, control of the car has become much more fluid.

Anywayz good luck with the conversion get that .18, very good price. Just make sure to buy 6 sets of tires you'll be needing them.

You dont need to buy tires. Just buy a 6' section of 2" ABS pipe, and cut to fit. Run a little bead of glue around the beads, and you are set. Maybe $5 per set of 4 that way, with rims.

Is you set any rc car up like that it will be nothing like a real drift car or a legit RC one!! I'm not puttin 4 pipes instead of hard compound drift tires!!

Thats one hell of a :fro: -Rig if i may say so myself. Thats my:2cents:

Legit R/C ???? and what exactly makes an R/C legit??

.....and btw, sorry, but it'll NEVER be anything like a real drift car..just look like one..

In any case,

It's you ride, so the decision is ultimately up to you...I believe Yokomo has a "half-way" point..not quite PVC...not full rubber. They're tires with "drift-inserts"...that might be more up your alley if you want the true tire look with all of the sideways action...HPI ones work of course, but probably wear faster being that you have a full rubber running surface. Good luck w/ your ride
