Hpi Savage Deal?

I personally would not buy that truck for that price. I looks like it is well used or poorly taken care of. Either way I would not want it. I think you can find a much better deal.

I agree, that truck looks pretty messed up. You could buy one brand new and put $200 into it and probably have something close to what he is offering buy yours will be new

Yep, not a very good deal. Very much used. Probably bashed/raced to death and i'd imagine the picco .26 is well passed broken in. The 21bb also has a cracked cooling head. So it's seen plenty of abuse. Also, the pipe has major scratches in it, and the little handle/roll bar has seen better days, it's probably not straight at all and bent to hell.

I could rip that truck apart even more.

Take it from experience, I would think real long and hard about that deal. I got my first savage used, and was quickly replacing it part by part, so I broke down and got a new one. I got a real good deal on the first (200), but the engine was just about cooked. Kwong was right about the tell tale signs of a good beating (or 10). If that roll bar is bent, the stock 21BB head is cracked, and the pipe has major signs of wear and tear, it's been bashed, and hard.

Here's some other things I had to do to my old truck: replace the engine from the new truck (Hyper 21 went into the new one), replace the main bearings in the rear diff, replace the shocks, body, center dogbones (the outdrives had the HD bones already), replace the rims, replace the bearings in the clutch, new spur gear, and fuel system. That's about when I said screw it and got a new truck. Now the old one is about up to snuff and I might sell it, maybe, maybe not.

But when someone says "it's only had 5 tanks through it", run, unless you know them real well. It only takes 1 tank to cook a mill, and then it's toast. Just my 2 cents, but do what you want. For the money, I'd wait and get the new SS kit and a decent radio.

That aint rust, it's about 5 cases of Byrons castor oil baked onto it. 5 tanks, my a$$. That truck has been run alot.

Actually, that could have been from before he swapped the engine. Cuz the .21bb has a cracked cooling fin. Nonetheless, it's one used truck. Hell, i drive my r/c's like a stole them and they're in better shape than his. Sometimes I drive my ntc3 like it's a savage, hopping curbs, still in better shape. That guy is really exaggerating his truck and it isn't gonna come close to reserve

Amen bro. The engine isn't the only important part of a truck. I wonder what condition the drive cups, diffs and the guts of the tranny are in.

Take a look at this POS....

LMAO, that's my old truck before I wasted the HB shocks, replaced the engine, and all that other stuff. It still holds a spot in my heart, but it looks like crap.

man you need to clean that. that would kill me to leave it that much dirt on mine even if it is a pos.

i'll give you $75 for it.

No way! It's almost back to "nearly new" condition. I put the new 21BB on it, back to stock shocks, stock pipe, cleaned the header, tranny guts are from the new truck, roto start. I need to replace the drive cups in the center, but it's just about ready to rip. It's my backup truck right now, as well as rolling spare parts.

And yes, I have cleaned it up. I made that rollbar alos, and it's tough, real tough. It's on the neww truck cause it's so tough. Did I mention it's tough, like so tough I have not bent it yet. That's tough....

I dont have a pic of my truck right now but this is my second pride and joy....

no i mean that it looks cool all dirty and stuff

I knew what ya meant, I thought so too. But all that dirt really wears on the drivetrain. That's a pipe for a heli BTW.
