cool some more rs4 3 freaks like me! haha dewds check out hpiforums.com for heaps of rs4 threads... i got all my stuff answered straight away

I tried that forum and quite honestly I thought it was a waste of time. I asked the site admin. to delete my profile and username. Most of the answers were contradictory and juvenile. Responses are given that are totally incorrect or lacking in any useful information. The mods need to work a little harder there, seems all they do is talk amongst themselves in all the threads. I found no useful information, I was truly disappointed, it just seems to have a very immature member base. The site navagation also sucks. I thought it might be a nice alternative after the HPI forums went to a faq instead.

There is starting to be more and more guys joining here with RS4s. Stick around and you will see how a quality forum is run.

BTW Welcome to the board.

ok you sold me mate! I'm sticking around for a while :) ok i gotta a newbie question (is that ok around here?) hehe well I've run about 6-8 tanks through and my diffs didnt sound too good so i took it apart and did some re-greasing. it took a while though. how often do you guys do grease maintenance on the diffs in ur rs4 3 s if any at all? btw i also checked out the radiocontolzone rs4 3 forum but things seem to be real messy and all over the place there =/ someone needs to make a rs4 3 homepage! :) :) :)

oh yes newbie q #2 - does anyone have a good methodology for getting the 2-speed to work? everyone seems to have this prob on other forums but no decent answer realli. would u start from the screw being very tight or very loose... then work in the opposite direction?

Cool, glad to see you are gonna stick around. Newbie questions are fine we were all newbies once. I guess I have been lucky, I have had no problems at all so far with the diffs in my RS4 3. If you only ran 6-8 tanks through it you are just barely broken in, you shouldn't have had any diff problems that quick. I have also had no problems since adding the two speed. I would start with it tight and back it out. I'm not sure what the starting point is but mine has shifted real nice ever since I put it in.

Re: dumadiscount's question on the two speed adjustment. You should screw down the screw adjustment till it stops, don't tighten it. Then, if I remember right, turn it 2 1/2 turns counterclockwise. That should be the stock setting. Now if you want second gear to come in later, turn it counterclockwise in 1/4 turn increments. I think I have mine turned about a little over a 1/4 turn clockwise after I set it to stock. The car shifts into gear after 10 feet.

anyone else have problems of there car pulling to one side and the trim not helping any? mine pulls hard to the right when I give it full throttle, but under half throttle its fairly straight. When I looked at it closely I noticed I had a couple parts in the wrong places, due to being tired when I was building it, I had the rear high grip (can't remember the nomenclature) parts in the back but the right on the left and vise versa, and low grip in the front, well I swapped out the high grip in the rear and put the low grip on and had the right on the right and left on the left, just pushing it across the floor i noticed a big difference in the car staying straight. I'm still waiting on a couple parts to come in hopeing itll come in tomorrow, ordered them through tower late monday morning priority, it wont take long for me to get it all back together once I get the parts. but if anyone has any ideas on why it might pull like that let me know!! thanks!!

thanks kel.... i dunno wen it stops coz it seems to want to go further and further hehehe. so i have it tight now... i will turn it out 1/4 shifts til i get a shift tho =) thanks for ur help mate!:D

Ran my car today. Installed the parts it was waiting for, and it shifts awesome and just hauls ass!! And as far as it pulling to one side, I fixed that problem too!! If its not raining this weekend I am going to spend a few hours out there running it around!

Well not exactly sure, but I had the rear hub carrier's on the wrong side, and I had the low grip ones in the front and the high grips in the rear, but I swapped out the high grips with the low grip hub carriers and made sure the right side was on the right side and left side was on the left side. and it runs fairly straight now, I think it slightly drifts to one side but its not really noticeable. Runs great!!!

hey guys.... dont know if it is a problem or not but i was turning the middle shaft on my ss ... the part with the 2-speed on it and the two parts that drive the dog bones dont realli rotate perfectly....there is no play but they kind of rotate maybe under .5mm each way each rotation. might be my gear mesh not sure. just ntoiced coz the front and rear parts the hold the dogbone seem to be perfect. can some else spin there drive train for me and have a look? :(

Sweet I am glad this forum took off. Dont have much to say but I will run my cars tommorow and report back. I got a awesome deal on a nitro tc3 now to so hopfuly I dont forget about my ss. I doubt it I am very inpressed with. it

Man its nice to see that some people realyl care. You are such a giving person with such a good heart to not want that little car to be neglected. X

It has nothing to do with my heart. It more like the wasted time and $$$ if I dont run it. But I really do like the tc3. Well I'll get back.

X, sometimes it hurts to be such a good hearted person, but I feel no rc should be homeless or neglected, so I am just trying to do my part :D

hey nc... sorry i was not clear last time. well its the two ends of the two speed transmission shaft. each one holds a dogbone ... I'm not sure what they are called... but if u look from either end of the car they look like a open ended cylinder with the open end facing u. there is also one from the front diff and the back diff that holds the other ends of the dog bones... wen i spin them they spin perfectly so that the circle which kinda looks like ( ) spins perfectly in a without going left or right up or down... but the ones in the centre are moving around a bit.... looks like perhaps the shaft is crooked. I'm not sure if it was like this before but i have a feeling at high speed this could coz vibration... not sure... but ill take it apart and check everything soon...
