I replaced the stock clutch on my supernitro with the racing clutch and I'm having problems with the damn thing! It comes as a circle and gives u three setup options and depending how fast u want to get off the line u have to cut it out as the pictures describe. Then u place it on the flywheel and wrap a spring around it. Well after doing all this I ran it today and on the first tank the clutch bell was not moving as freely. My guess is that the piece of poop spring popped off. Is there any other clutch shoes I can use on the supernitro??

Did you take the clutch bell off like I told you and inspect the damn thing before you just guess?? :stick:

lol, yep, i'd of pulled it off to inspect it before I even thought about posting

On some cars, if you tighten the screw holding the clutch bell too tight, it will make the clutch bell run less freely

Yes I did! Why else would I start this thread. Any one else have a more intelligent answer?

with the engine out of the car - how does the clutch bell spin? does it spin forever, a few turns, or hardly at all?

When I first installed it, it was spinning freely. After a few runs the bell then was hard to turn. Then I took it apart and the spring that wraps around the shoes popped off.

Not yet. I feel like taking a hammer and smashing the hell out of it.

naw - it happens. i hate the clutches with the wrap around type spring, they suck, lol.

put it back together and see if it spins freely, most likely the spring came out of the groove and is what was causing the problem.

After I changed out the shoes and bell on my buggy I found that the washer retaining screw was adding pressure to the outside bearing causing the bell to almost lock up. I changed out the washer to a smaller one so that it held the inside ring of the bearing and it spins forever now.

Also, the instructions with my new shoes said to connect the two ends of the spring and squeeze the loop on the end with some needle nose to keep it from disconecting then stretch the spring over the shoes to get it on.
