hello all,
i have a traxxas nitro rustler and am really pleased.I am now looking to buy a 4WD truck and been looking on ebay.I am new to the R/C so i would like to know if HPI is good and what kinda $ a Savage should be worth.I know there are hardcore hpi ,traxxas losi ect fans so I'm not wanting to start a conflict just some advise. Thanks

hpi I DEFINETLY the way to go.. I have has a Tmaxx, and i got a savage shortly after, and i can say, the savage kicks ***. I've NEVER EVER broken anything, except for my carb falling out and it being chewed up.. Oh and replaced an O RING but thats IT! and i use it ALOT. I've gotten about 9 gallonsthrogh it has ALOT of compression left. Its a killer machine. I would go with HPI for sure. As for money, your look at 5 bills for a savage. Give or take depending where u live..
Good Luck deciding

I have owned several Traxxas and HPI products. HPI is a much better quality product.

:whhooo:Really everybody????? Is there any advantage to a T-Maxx at all? Besides helping you through killing time you have to waste on repairs? Any advantage?

what abot a savage 21 under $200 ?
It has some mods but nothing major.

yeah, i guess you can put it that way saying it helps you with killing time but you forgot something....money.

The 2 worst things I can think of on a 21 is #1, the diffs. If they haven't been upgrade to the 4-gear they will need to be. #2, if it's still running the 21 engine, it will be a little under-powered. Under $200 if it's rtr might be a good deal.

I started with a Traxxas Nitro Sport then a Savage. I also had a T-Maxx,concur with the others on them. There's no comparisson about how much more enjoyable the Savage is. Be careful buying used though,if you don't know who you're buying from you can easily end up with a lemon.

I'll kinda sit on the fence a bit. I have the old Tmaxx 3.3 (short one) and the new extended chassis fwd only, a stock svage X, an SS with a Cen 7.7 with cen diffs and Hyper ST outdrives, and a Savage X with an Axial .32, 3 speed with Cen diff conversion.
Savages rock... Yes they do but the longer Maxx fwd only is good and strong and very fast, and should not be discounted without first driving one if it possible for you.....
Just for the record the 7.7 SS is useless as tits on a bull........ But it looks great..

I have two Savages and have owned two T-Maxxs....go Savage for sure. If you want to spend a grand turning the T-Maxx into a wanna-be Savage....then it is pretty good. They are not that bad but I do like the Savages better...as Brushless said the newer Maxxs are "better"....but still not an HPI....because face it....BIG BLOCKS kick ass

Well bought a Savage 25 Last night .Had a quart of nitro run through it and gave $100.00 for it .doesn't have any scrapes or damage at all.!!!!

must say all this savage hype is making me more confident on my xl purchase. now i really can't wait for it to arrive.

i owned a rustler. whats great about traxxas is their patent on their easy start system. just put the thing in the hole and press a button no glow starter or spinny thing. but i was willing to sacriface that for the xl this time.
