Hello, I am new to the rc world and am working on a hand me down HPI Nitro rush. It has been sitting for a year or so and I am trying to get it back into shape. I got it running but it has a high idle that engages the clutch and I am unable to turn that down with the idle set screw, back it all the way out and it doesn't change anything. But once I start going in with it, it idles higher.
Also at the top end it sputters, then dies.....unless I let off right away and let it recover. Also it dies as soon as I hit the brakes, no matter on idle or at higher speed.
Any help would be great! Thanks!!

Found the top end issue.....the fuel line was restricted at the fuel tank. Still working on the idle issue.
Is it supposed to die when I hit the breaks? I look at the carb and it just about closes completely when I hit the brakes.

Your idle screw should be stopping the carb from closing all the way. It should remain open about the thickness of a credit card. Try turning the idle screw in while holding the brake. At some point you should see it begin to push the slide out.
