HPI Nitro RS4 Mini build #1

I’ve been wanting to collect a Nitro Mini for a long time now but they always managed to slip away from me. Either the selling price was too high ($550+) or someone else claimed it first. As these are getting tougher to find I chose to put my search on the back burner and focus on other projects.

Never thought I’d be able to finally score a complete one, and I got the deal of a lifetime on it. This car was free! Yep, that’s right it cost me $0 for this absolutely mint condition RS4 mini. A good friend decided to be generous and gifted it to me at not cost.

Take a look at how perfect it is

I have some new carbon parts for this car but I think I’m going to hold off on that.

I want this car to stay in box-stock shelf queen condition. So to keep it original I’ll only add a factory HPI tensioner and a foam bumper.

It does not include a body but I already have a body picked out and it won’t disappoint!

The carbon parts will likely go on a later build since I have so many leftover rs4-2 parts that I can use them to partially build another mini.

I always wanted a super and mini. Never thought I would own a drift but I do now.

It’s too nice to run, he told me to do what I want and what I want is to keep it nice. If I crash and break a suspension piece, what then? Ya know

But you can idle around the driveway. Get a ricer body and it would look scale.

My good friend generously gifted me a brand new foam bumper and saved me quite the headache of searching for one of these rare pieces.

I’d say it looks proper now

Freshened up the mini with some new battery holders, Y brace and a carry handle

Not something anybody would notice but it’s 1% better lol

Build update:

My good friend sent me a restored chassis with a brushed finish on it so that I can replace my blemished chassis.

So quickly stripped the old one off

Here they are together to show the difference

I ordered a civic body for it, and after arriving today I quickly got to cutting and trimming. Still need some small tweaks before painting. Also gonna change out the front body posts

Added a brand new HPI side belt tensioner as the last mechanical piece needed to complete the car
