Hey guys. I was wondering how many of you guys own or have owned an HPI MT2. I would appreciate hearing from you as to what you liked and also what you didnt like. Any tips would be good too. I didnt see a thread for the HPI MT2 other then the one I started in the nitro talk section so I decided to start this one here.:D

Always wanted one, but only got the weaker HPI NitroMT (it's predecessor). The MT2 is a much better built and stronger truck. For what it was, it was a pretty fun little truck and could drive one quite a few surfaces without too much issue. I'd buy one again, but get the MT2 instead.

Not the fastest though, since it's single speed.

I have a MT2 with a OS .18TM and it is a little rocket. Yeah it is a single speed but still damn fast. The weak point on the MT2 is the axle carriers. I have snapped the tie-link arm off of them I don't know how many times until I went alloy. Over all good truck though!

Yeah I have one and tbh it's the one I use the most when bashing. The thing I like most is the price of replacement parts. I also have a schumacer menace. When I burnt the diff out on the menace it cost me £35 to replace the internals, a new set of internals for the mt2 cost me £4.50. This is why I love it :D

awesome thanks for the input guys. I am still waiting for mine to come but have already went out and bought fuel and all that good stuff :DI have a farm so I am planning to make a big track out there in the spring. Does anyone know which screws i have to put lock tight on pre first use or does this model not need that. Also if anyone has a link to a good page that explains how to break in the engine on this that would be great.

hi guys. I have bad news second tank during break in and i hit a steel piece in the shop I was running in and broke my front suspension arm:( can anyone tell me if i can get aluminum arms for my truck and if I can where I would be able to get them. Thanks in advance.

You probably don't want aluminum arms. This just would've caused you to rip it from the bulkhead, or cause some kind of chassis damage. Which is deeper and more complicated to fix. A-arms are a kind of "fuse". Cheap, easy to replace and keep the chassis safe in a crash. Rpm should make some. They are a ton tougher than any stock arm, and still allow some flex to keep the chassis/bulkhead safe.

ok thanks a lot for the info. I guess i really need to fine tune my steering:D I will look up RPM.

I looked up RPM and all they have for parts is for the blitz and firestorm. Does anyone know if the firestorm arms are the same as the MT2 arms. I saw a picture on their page and all the purple colored parts are the ones I want to change on my current truck because the arms are the ones I broke today.

Just to keep anyone that is interested updated. I called RPM and they do not have any parts for the HPI MT2. I ordered a set through my LHS and it should be in in a week. I did find some aluminum arms if anyone is looking for them just do a google search and you will find them. I think the place was yeah parts or something like that:)

I am just curious. Has anyone done a lot of hop ups on an MT2? Is it a good thing or should I just keep saving up and buy a Losi aftershock or Tmaxx or savage to have for bashing?

Just recieved my parts today. Will let you know how i get on :)

Thanks I am looking forward to see what it will look like. I guess by the sounds of it not many people mod the MT2. :( I have been trolling the internet and fund a company called hot racing products. They have a bunch of aluminum upgrade parts for the MT2. Just in case anyones interested.

This is the one I used to run:

They are fairly universal. They just plug inline with your t/b servo and are usually push/hold a button to set it to the place you want it to go when you loose signal and/or the power gets below 4V or so on the receiver pack.

engine temps

I was running my MT2 and I can't seem to get the engine temps up to that 200 F. I dont want to run it to lean as I have only run through about 6 tanks. I usually am running about 100F-120F. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong.
Thanks

its too rich if thats the temp its running. You have to lean it out. If thats the highest temp you have seen you still need to break in the engine, thats not enough temperature to heat cycle it.

edit: 6 tanks in, it should be ready to be run but not if you havent gotten the temps over 200 degrees
