the firestorm is awesome!!!!!:bow:i took it out to an open dirt field to break it in and tune it and the thing is crazy fast!!!!:bow:the only thing that is wrong with it is, as i was turning a corner, something gave out, loosened, stripped, i dunno, something! and now it just revs and won't go anywhere, i think I'm going to spend the 200 dollars and hop it up + put a new tranny in it. hopefully that should work.

here is the site to some good firestorm hop-ups:

hope this helps

I dont have a firestorm but i do have an rs4 and you probably just stripped the spur gear. If you dont really need the whole $200 conversion i would suggest just buying a steel spur gear so it wont strip.

went to break it in and the clutch spring broke on the first tank bummer, called hpi was told they had them in stock but they are on a hold status they will send me one whenever they come off the hold status. I want to get it broken in and test out my new ths pipe so see any improvement over stock exhaust. Its hard not putting that shiny pipe on now but i want to compare it to stock.

whats the link for the pipe. want to put one on my firestorm.

i would buy one too ,if i could find a HPI expert, and a LHS in my town that stocked HPI parts

Does anyone know the top speed of the firestorm?

thread revival :hehe:

My Firestorm in completely storm form ran around 38mph. After i ported the G3.0, switched to 21T clutchbell (stock 50T spur), running on 30% it ran 42-43mph. I am at over 2000ft above sea level, so the same truck at or near sea level would surely run a bit better.

With the transformation my Firestorm is going through now.. it should run somewhere around 60+mph, using one of my DragMod Hyper 21 8ports with OFNA 086 pipe, and switching to 1.0M gearing using Axial 22t clutchbell, modified Integy Revo 34t or 36t Spur, Jaco 98mm foams. :D

My friend has the firestorm. I am very impressed. HPI made a great stadium truck for a cheap price. I have the associated GT2. I think it is better than the firestorm.

Has anyone had issues with the brake discs failing often?

I just yanked out my old old firestorm one of the first models outa the closest, after loosing interest in RC nitro cars and jeez all i had to do to get her running was anti freeze clean the engine and carb and re oil ran on first try. Love HPI there Firestorm series just never quiets.

:P
