Does anyone know how to make a tinted effect on your cars windows? I have them as stickers for my old WRX shell but i want to tint the windows of the body I'm getting soon from Japan. Are there any sneaky paint effects or do i have to use stickers?

You can buy the Pactra Window Tint , but it can be a win/lose type paint... You need to make sure that its warmed up a tad above room temp, (using warm water), shaken up really good, & only apply a super light coat from about 12-14" away. This stuff likes to spit & spatter... If done right, it looks really cool.

I also read an article where they use Pactra Transparent Smoke paint to get the same effect. From what I understand, it's easier to use since it's a standard paint. I have heard that the spray tint is rather picky and sometimes difficult to use.

I've used the Pactra in a rattle can, and it IS tricky to work with. Practice on scrap lexan or a sheet of glass. When it's dry, you can scrape it off the glass and try again. Try spraying it flat, in very thin coats, or try letting it run down. Different effects. You need to try it several times to get it right.
I also suggest, when you tint the windows, to spray the entire inside of the body. It's an excellent hard protective layer for the body paint.

If you are using an airbrush, you can use a water-based paint such as Createx. Pick up their Transparent Black and simply spray very light coats until the desired tint is achieved. The good thing about this paint is that it is water-based and can be diluted down w/ water. Diluting it down will make it more transparent, thus you have window tint. If you dilute it down, I would pick up a bottle of their Createx Bond All and put a couple of drops in the black before you spray it. This will help it stick to the lexan like glue.

Later....

I like spraying Pactra laquers so I'll take a bottle of thinner with a splash of black in it. Thakes a bit to get the mix just right but when done a bottle will last a long time.

One detail thing I like doing is spraying a fade on the top of the windshield also, like the factory tint fade found on alot of cars.

I have used Pactra rattle can and Spaz stix window tint in my airbrush and havent been impressed with either! I thought the rattle can stuff came out better.
