OK, can anyone help, anyone got a surefire way of getting rear bearings out (of a .21 size)...I've tried heating and tapping and it hasn't dropped out yet...

Maybe i'm just being a female pee pee and should hit it harder!!

BTW Got the Sirio .27 going nicely in the Sav...it screams....thanks for your help.

After heating the engine in a 200° oven for about twenty minutes, grab your hot mitts, tack hammer and the thinnest nail set you can find. Tap around the outer race.

Women I know just get all hot when I talk about this.

If you're replacing the bearings just pound the bearing or inner race and hope it doesn't come apart.

I did that job last night with my new XTM 24.7 case. I used a propane torch & heated around where the bearing seats itself for about 30 seconds then smacked the rear of the engine on a peice of wood & bingo out it came with 1 hit. Then I heated the new case, put the bearing on the crank, carefully set the case on the crank with a 4" 1/4 drive extension in the crank induction hole, turned it around & tapped 2-3 times till I felt the bearing seat all the way & done. While the case is still warm put in the front bearing in remembering that the front bearing has a nylon seal in front so dont melt it, then let the case cool down by itself awhile. I try never to remove or replace bearings cold as they pull metel with em inlarging the hole. Anybody saying your going to melt or warp the case needs to stay off the phone while doing this. Propane can melt stuff but ya gotta hold the flame in the same place for a long time till it melts. Just move the flame around the part to be heated evenly, & the bearing will practicly fall in, if it takes more than 4 wacks to seat its either not straight or not hot enough. after heating ya have about 1 min to work with, Robie6
