Hi, I was out running my savage x a few minutes ago for the first time and it dosent shift. I was wondering how to adjust my shift points to shift sooner, (if thats the problem). It also has an axial .28, if that makes a difference at all. I also was thinking about putting 100000wt diff oil in my diffs or locking them. what are the pros and cons of locking them. I am a basher and hill climber. Thanks

Is that first time running it ever?

Sadley ya but i got it used. Its got 3 goles in the side of the tranny, if that means anything. Thanks

Or it could be your slipper is slipping.

You'll have to take a look at the manual to adjust the trans.

Just because you have a 3-hole case, doesn't mean you have a 3-speed trans, but you may have a 3-speed. It's more annoying in general than the two speed... I think you can adjust the 1-2 shift externally but have to take the top off and the two speed assembly apart to adjust the 2-3 shift.

was getting to the shift points, wanted to make sure it wasn't something easier than adjusting the transmission.

if you have to adjust the shift point the instructions are on www.hpiracing.com

Ok thanks, the slipper pad looks pretty bad I will replace that and see how it runs. Thanks for the info!!

Ok thanks, does the slipper pad ever wear out?
Thanks

Theirs the pad like thing on the outside of the spur gear, that's what I'm wondering if it wears out. The pad inside is distroyed haha.

Actually you can adjust 2-3 through the holes on the side of the three speed 1-2 have to be adjusted by taking the top off the transmission and pulling the cluster out.

How do I know if its got a 3 speed, I don't think it shifts twice but it scoots.

If you want to know if you have a three speed, open the tranny case and see if there are three gears. Also don't ust punch it, just feather the trottle till you hear if shift through the three gears, you will be able to hear it shift in to each gear, if its a two speed you will only hear it shift once..

ok thanks ill have to try that tomorrow, what are the pros and cons of locked diffs, I'm thinking about locking my rear or usinf 100000wt oil. Thanks

Defiantly do not use a diff locker, but the diff locking oil is very helpful when in sticky situations and still allows the diff to slip. I believe I used the Ofna 120,000 wt oil.
