I'm new to the hobby and have only ran my truck a couple short times, I have heard about running some type of oil in the truck after I'm done running it and was curious exactly what it is and how it works? I want to take care of my truck and dont want to blow up the motor because of lack of care, any help would be great on how to clean it and store it for long period of times it just snowed here and I'm probally not going to be using it to much in the snow , I do keep it indoors next to my bed LOL my wife thinks I'm nuts:OMG: but she is very cool with my new hobby :)

Well then if she is cool with it i say put her beside the bed and sleep with the maxx...lol thats what humboltblazer does when he gets a new R/C :jk:

but any way you should put a few drops of after run oil down the glow plug hole and turn it over a few times..And I take mine and prop the chissie up so theres no weight on your shocks...and you will be good to go..

Why don't you want to drive it in the snow?? thats a blast

I go ahead and clean her up well and then blow out any water or DA that was left behind. Then I spray the ride except the electronics , with WD-40. I use an air compressor to blow off any excess off. People say to get it off completely but I have left a thin layer on the gearboxes arms and any rotating mass exposed so when I am ready to go I just blow it off with the air compressor and you are good to go. This and what Zandor said is what I do. Oh yeah recharge your RX pack or leave the Alkalines unplugged.

I will mess around a bit in the snow, but I was in a bad car accident and got messed up pretty good and the cold weather tends to make me hurt but I wont be able to resist tearning it up a couple times out in the snow lol thanks for the info guys on storing my newest toy!!!

This is the oil I use: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXL391&P=ML

I normally drive my savage on saterday and sunday. Sunday night, I hit it with a garden hose (I've waterproofed the electrics), then I blow the water off the engine and other area's with canned air. I blow out the glow plug hole really well with canned air, then take out the plug. I rotate the engine until the piston is at TDC, then fill the top of the cylinder with ARO, hold a paper towel over the head and give it a few quick rips of the pull start. Then I make sure the piston as at BDC, wipe any oil out of the area the glow plug sits with a q-tip or a paper towel then put the plug back in.

I get many gallons out of my engines. 7 was my best so far, but I traded that truck and the new owner got another 2 through it. I'm on gallon #5 on my current engine (Omega 21 in my savage) and it still has a ton of compression.

Cool thanks again for awesome advice Olds man!!!

By the way what is the best way to water proof all the electronics I would like to protect my truck as best as possible!!!!

I take the servo's apart and put the rtv on all the joints, then put them back together, let it set up for about 30 seconds or so, then tighten the screws. Make sure to put a good blob around the hole the wire goes through. Then you find some rubber o-rings that will fit around the servo horn nice and tight, but not all stretched out. Then put the horn on so that it squishes the o-ring a little bit. You may have to sand a little off the bottom of the horn so it doesn't bind, but still pinches the o-ring just enough to make a seal.

MAKE SURE TO USE SENSOR SAFE RTV ON THE SERVO'S The acidic gas as it cures would/could mess up the cpu board in the servo.

I drop the receiver in a balloon with all the wires coming out of the mouth of the balloon. Then I roll back the neck of the balloon a little bit, put a dab of the silicon on it, gently pull the neck over the blob, work the blob through the wires a little bit, the create a bubble with 2 zipties on each side of the blob to create a good seal.

I do the same with the battery packs that I make. But after putting the battery pack in a balloon, I wrap about 2 layers of electrical tape around it to help protect the balloon against vibration holes. Then I do the same with the neck of it.

Here's a pic of one of my battery packs:
