Looks like a savage 21. Are you looking to race or just have fun/bash? Either or, it will probably be the last truck you buy. For bashing/having fun, that truck can take what no other truck can. Looks like you got the f4.6 engine in there. Good engine. Fire it up, go beat he hell out of it, after you're done, the truck will probably call you a punk and ask you if that is all you have. For racing, the aftermarket parts for that thing is unreal.
 
u just made a ninja happy i love this truck and think it has potential! how sure are u on the model? i heard throu the grape vine i may have one of the better hpis's not the fastest the way she sits but the tuffest??? u said she will be waking me up to bash, not race except on my track ill have viedo of that when she flys any suggastions ona new lid i want 2 keep the general but can't find one i got this one off a walmart remote cheepie for like 20 bucks tryed to install the horn but it was w/remote lol

no i bought it like 3 weeks ago knowing it needed tlc but also know i can do that! she was running verry nice till i trashed the one way bearing i just want the truth no hard feelings but would you guys get a kick butt engine and trans? I'm not raceing i just want 2 know is she worth it check );)yes or no(

Lids for that thing are a dime a dozzen. You said you wanted to possibly race it??? Oh wow.....you;re swimming in after market parts. I am talking about LCG TVP's, mid tank mods, etc etc etc. The savage is like the Mustang of the rc world. If had been modified to do everything by everyone. I have a savage 21 and it looks like yours.

If you want better handling while not breaking the bank, it's easy.

1> lst2 shocks on ebay. 20 bucks
2> 23mm wheel extenders on ebay, 20 bucks.
3> 23mm wheels with some nice bowties on it.....haven's found them on ebay yet.

That's about all i have on my savage, it sits lower, handles amazingly better. Not a race truck, but youll be able to turn w/out flipping.

Also, for the love of god, get a better steering servo for that thing if you don't have one, especially with bigger wheels/tires.
 
I would leave the tranny alone but a new mill wouldn't be out of the question if that one is trashed. That rig looks really familiar to me--did you get it from someone on RCNT?

BTW---ProLine makes some nice shells for that rig, and you can also get a stocker if you don't want to paint one up or have one done for you.

i got the truck 3 weeks ago but just found this site like a week ago looking 4 info on it. i liked u guys so here i am my first nitro i use to race ele for like 15 years not steady but always been here. but if this truck does look familiar i would like to know some history just to better my chances of restore

engine what makes u think thats a prob even so I'm talking about changing it thats the reason 4 my thread
 
If this is your first rig, I'd suggest learning more about tuning and running before getting a new engine. Will save you money down the line.

Going with a super high powered engine will end up busting parts, but will look cool pulling wheelies all the time.

I'd get some new wheels as your almost 100% guaranteed to strip the hex's out on those stockers. They were horrible for stripping hex's.

The tires are good bashing tires. I just bought some 17mm RPM rims, your tires and 17mm hex's/nuts for the XL for my savage only to find out that HPI no longer has left and right hand threaded axles. Required that I buy 2 new black axles to replace the silvers. But, hopefully I won't be spinning hex's and cracking rims this year. So tired of destroying rims...
