I have a completely STOCK Revo 3.3 that I would love to break-in tomorrow. It has been sitting on my workbench for 5 days now while I have been feverishly overworked at work. However, the forecast calls for a 90% chance of rain all day tomorrow. Actually, there should be a couple hour break between storm systems - giving me a little bit of time to get out while it is not raining.

Questions...

Should I avoid the wet conditions all together while breaking in a stock Revo?

Would it be ok to break in as long as I don't go trouncing through puddles?

I am thinking as long as the pavement is relatively puddle free I should be ok, no?

The only problem is that after tomorrow, the temp is gonna drop down in to the "cold weather breakin" range - and I don't wanna be stuck wrapping paper towels around my motor.

I suggest waiting for the rain to be over and do it when its dry, and waiting untill the temps are constant for the break in.

Avoid the puddles and stay out of the lawn and you should be fine. Grass holds an insane amount of water in it and it will saturate the entire truck pretty quickly.

It was all good... the storms cleared up a bit - the sun even came out for about 2 hours - giving me plenty of time to run completely through break-in...

then it got messy again, right when I had it running nicely... anyway, she's all ready to have some fun next time!!!

Thank you. It's what I do best.

If you had any other type of wetness in mind, you can't have too much. :p:

if your going tobreak it in when its wet out side try to find a dry spot and check your temps run on the rich side whitch you will have to do when it gets colder and the humidity is to high i wouldent run your airfilter can only asorb so much you dont want to much water going into the engine

I would NEVER, EVER, run a nitro without an air filter. Did I say NEVER?

Say WHAT?

Don't EVER run a nitro engine without a filter! EVER! For ANY reason!

Sponge? What do you think, that he's deep see diving with it?

I think you mean if you ran through puddles it would absorb water and make its way to the motor..........that is definitely possible. But humidity won't affect a FILTER at all. Where I live it is often 80% humidity during the summer, it does require adjustment of the HSN and LSN, but the filter certainly doesn't get wet from it.

that was the worst advice I ever heard. I'm typing this on my phone, and I can still remember puncuation. Y can't some of y'all?

Ok first... I promise to never post another R/C car question after watching pr0n on the interwebs :)

Second... I think my break-in went fine. It rained a bit in the morning, then was dry for about 4 hours. During this time, I found a nice long patch of dry asphalt to do the break-in. The measured temp (outside) was 65deg - with wind-chill it was probably 55 or so - the wind was bowing 25-30 mph - remember, this was in the middle of a storm...

Third... Yes. Trucks that go fast are tons-o-fun! Much more relaxing than flying a heli - which is why I got one (a Revo) in the first place.

Fourth... After today, I decided to put in my 2.4 receiver and use my stick style Tx (DX7) + upgrade to a Lipo battery for the Rx. Alkaline batts make me nervous. I kept feeling like I was gonna poke my eye out with the stupid long antennae that comes with the stock kit. Maybe one day I will have the budget to get a 2.4 Surface Tx, but until then, I will make due with what I got!

Your posts are fine and so are your questions. Use whatever transmitter you are comfortable with, they are all good as long as you can control them.

Could you say that again?
