Serious question, if you've had the car for 3 years, and the diif(s) are still fine, let me know.

Just looking for some numbers here :)

I have a monster truck, but information about any vehicle is of use.

thanks for your time!

I have a Savage 25 with a mild .28 and the diffs are 3 1/2 years old. They were properly shimmed and that makes ALL the difference. I have a T-Maxx that the diffs lasted almost 4 years then a Picco .26 ate them...heh heh heh.

the reason I ask, is that the clown I bought my 1:5 FS Racing truck off of claims:

James, I do believe I have to provide a warranty when goods are faulty. However it's not a manufacturing fault when a diff lets go after 2 hours use. For example diffs in top end nitro cars commonly last 1 hour, tires on 1/5 cars last 2 tanks of fuel etc. I've offered you a discount on the parts its entirely up to you what you do from this point, all that repeatedly emailing me with the same question will do is lose you your discount.

after my diff ceased to "diff" after 2 hours of use, and me seeking repairs under warranty...

so... anyone had their diff last 60 minutes? lol

As I said in nitro RC cars 30 to 60 minutes is common for diffs to let go. 2 stroke is about the same in some situations.

this guy is a clown :)

That is total bullshit. A straight up ****ing lie. I have NEVER seen a diff only last two hours unless faulty, put together wrong ect....ESPECIALLY not in top end cars. My Baja 5b has 3 gallons on it and is still perfect. He is trying to screw you over. You can give him my comments too. He sounds like a pure shyster.

I have 10+ gallons (last 5 with an LRP28S3) in my aftershock diffs. I did upgrade the housings to HD housings about 4 gallons ago or so. The gears/pins/out-drives are all original from when I bought it March of 2007.

On a conservative rate of 10 minutes per 150cc tank of fuel in my aftershock:

1 gallon = 3785 cc's
1 tank = 150 cc's
25 tanks per gallon.
1 tank is probably around 10 minutes of run time.
25 * 10 = 250 minutes per gallon.
250 minutes * 10 gallons = 2500 minutes or 41 hours of run time total so far.

Basically... this guy is laying down a line of crap thicker than I am tall. Short of locking down your slipper and holding the truck/car at WOT 5 feet in the air and dropping it on concrete, a diff should last you a good long while. Either the vehicle you have is total garbage (which it could be) or something isn't lined up right or the parts your getting are way sub-par.

I ran 10+ gallons through stock revo diffs. Never actually took them apart the entire time I owned the thing that I recall. That was with a few different engines but an OS18TM for most of their lives.

The only thing I shelled diffs in with any real high frequency was when I had a t-maxx. Especially after converting to a big block chassis. It would burn them up in a gallon or so. Gave up on it and parted it out.

The first savage I had wasn't much better though until I upgraded the diff cases to alloy so I could shim them properly. Then I'd get around 4-5 gallons out of them. That was before the HD gears HPI has now were available.

On my baja 5b my stock diff out of the box last about 40 mins, that is because it was not properly filled from the factory.. but we did not know this back in summer 06' oh well HPI sent me 2 complete diffs under the warranty for free..I know run the alloy diff case(HPI) with AE 10k diff fluid and have not have issues since..:):)

My original E Maxx has the stock diffs in it. This summer I put an evx 2 and ran some 7 cells in it and they still didn't pop. I use a locker in the rear for climbing sometimes, too. That guy has insulted your intelligence harshly. How about a web address so we can avoid this bozo. Or cyber beat him on your behalf.;)

Yeah same here on the revo diffs. I know for sure I've bought 16 gallons of fuel since it was new (I have all the empty jugs). Maybe 3 gallons went in my maxx, but no more. I have taken the revo diffs apart once to grease them but that was the other day!! Now keep in mind it has always been a 3.3 'til last week, but still....that's impressive. They're still good I'm gonna run 'em with the s27 then MAYBE they'll break.

on my rtr diff, not too long. but once i installed a TR Diff Saver cases (just prior to their actual release) my diff has around 2.3 yrs on it with only fluid changes and a couple bearings that went to hell.

But now since I installed the ALLOY diff case from HPI no worries here, no need for a DIFF case saver:p:..it has been going strong ever since...:first_place:

Dude, Enough already. I see your just a big a tool as that jerk in Canada you admire is (some surprise).

I never said he NEEDED a TR Diff saver, simply that once i installed MINE on my Baja diff, i have not had any issues at all except for a bearing or 2 going bad.
Besides, this isnt about a Baja Diff its about a FS diff. their IS NOT an alloy housing available for it that i am aware of, but i dont own or want to own a FS item. I bet now you ll think FS is the best thing since sliced Integy.

Sorry to the OP. but this sorry case of a person just did the same thing on RCTech. Matt, You only care about causing trouble, and now your bringing it here. Get a life. And i do feel sorry for you, as your foolish enough to allow Clayton to rope you into doing his dirty work becuase hes too much of a coward to be a man and do it himself. I know thats how he works because he tried to goat me into doing the same thing. When I told him to fight his own battles, i suddently became a Liability to him as i KNEW how he works, and can let Others know about his slimy ways. so he Feels the need to Discredit me so when i say hes an ASSHAT, he hopes people will not believe it. its simply pathetic.
