Last time I ran my nitro shortly after installing the 2 speed, I couldn't tell whether or not it was shifting. Is there a video or something explaining how this thing operates? Noob question I know, but I wanna learn.

Mechanically: there is an arm on a disc that swings out as the rpms climb. When the rpms' hit the right range, it swings out and grabs a pin, which engages the second gear.

In practice: when the transmission shifts, you will hear a momentary shift in the engine tone. It will sound like your real car does when it shifts gears. Only higher pitched, of course.

Hmm, here's a pic. Is it installed right?? The 2 bigger gears mesh with the 2 smaller gears. I would imagine only one would be working with its partner gear but I still dont understand how it works. Kinda dirty.

Centrifugal force overcomes the spring tension on the shifter pawl. All that stuff should be crammed inbetween the two spur gears.

there should be a small whole next to the small gear which has two screws and turn the one closes to the engine counter clockwise
