how do i make my Stadium Maxx do 60+

I have a story that my t-maxx was going about 30-35 Mph on the street and the car wouldn`t turn and slam right into the stop sign (on the side of the car) and the bulkheads gave (both) and the skid plate snap in half and the 4wd linkege pop. But I fix the car and now I am driving slow.

Hey Lucid, let us know if you make it close to 60. I think it would be a hoot. I can't believe all the replies you got on why you shouldn't, people don't understand that not everyone is a noob, or that it's not impossible to control a truck at high speed if you have the set-up and room to run. To each his own I say...

Unless it is for drag racing (do they do that with MT's???) I just don't see the point and NO, you can not control a MT, other than keep it straight, at 60mph. If hitting 60 makes you happy, do it. Me, I am more into jumping and track racing so lots of low end torque for me, thanks.

Your best bet to hitting 60mph with a maxx would be to do a .21 conversion. Get a Very high revving .21 or larger engine. Something with a high rpm powerband. Gear it high. Next, drop the truck as low as possible for stability. Since monster truck tires are pretty wide (which means lots of drag), try to find some 1/8 scale buggy on-road tires/rims.

That's the way i'd go about doing it.

You wouldn't believe it, but I know some guys that will race just about anything for money. T-Maxxes, 4-wheelers, hell even golf carts. It's amazing what some people do...
I like to jump and race a little myself. Now if only I could get my T to handle like a touring car...

Yeah, i found the .21 conversion on my Rc10Gt was a killer. It is so fast now, but it is controlable. I am currently putting a Sirio .27 racer into my T-maxx along with a whole bunch of other parts!

Don't mean to crash your party, but I'm willing to bet that(giving you get the truck near 60MPH) you will only get to enjoy it for about a second until the truck loses control. Unless you drop the truck to make it more stable but even then I'm not sure it will be enough. Anyways, your best chance IMO getting to 60MPH would be to install the following: .21 conversion kit, sirio .27 or Diablo .28, 3-speed tranny, port the engine like some people do(risk damage to the engine however), a supercharger, a c02/nitrous kit, 22-tooth bell clutch and 64 tooth spur gear, some type of street tires, forward only conversion, tune the engine on the lean side, then put it in a car and drive on the expressway. I think we were trying to figure out a nice way of saying it's not a good idea, but if you want you can try the above.

Sorry, didnt realize a couple people already said most of the stuff on my list.

Nitrous doesn't work well on our r/c engines. The tuning is VERY inconsistent. And the sueprcharger is hopeless on a 2 stroke.

What's the stock gearing for a sportmaxx? 22 cb and 64 spur sounds way too low.

For gearing, you want to calculate it to have the engine max out at right around 30k rpm for pretty much any engine. Usually the powerband will drop off way before what it's rated at.

Ya wanna go fast? Get a car. Those big MT tires at 60 are going to shake like a monday-morning-drunk. And all that weight at 60..... well...... you're gonna end up with a big mess. I'd like to watch it. No doubt! It would be a lot like a train wreck. You'd like to look away but you just couldn't make yourself.

I can't wait for spring, crap it hasn't even snowed yet very heavy. I dunno how fast my Maxx will get up to but the digging up of this thread is making me anxious to find out.

That would be awesome to see a huge T-Maxx flying by at 60 MPH!!! I dont know alot about building a fast nitro vehical since I'm fairly new to the hobby, but I do know how they get reall cars in the 200mph club and I would think alot of the things they do to those cars would work on a rc. For instance I would suggest slamming it down in the weeds to make it more aerodinamic taking away some of the air flow which would slow it down, Then you might want to try to find the narrowist tires you possibly can find for weight reduction and again airflow, wider tires will have to push more air holding back your t-maxx I would also suggest making some covers for your rims moon type like the ones on the salt flat cars this also will reduce drag from air entering your rims. You could alos consider drilling out the chassis and other part for weight reduction as long as you dont drill the wrong areas making it weak! also consider the type of body your going to use if any Look for something that will let the air flow over it and not under mabe use one off a touring car somthing that will be low and sleek. Also if you where to place a small wind on the rear it would help keep the truck more stable at higher speeds. Good luck with it I wish I could just get my t-maxx tuned right so it will do 25 or 30 LOL

Anything is possible with time and some fabricating you can get that thing doing 60 and being stable. Hotrod magazine just built a 70,s camaro that did 250 mph at the salt flats, and if you ever rode or driven one of these cars they are scary around 120 but with the right mods they built a killer car that is safe and very very fast :) keep that in mind and get that s-maxx to 70 mph :)

whats really the difference watchin it do 40, 60, or 52. and after a couple passes it'll look the same. nevermind the potential 2 handgrenade somethin b/c of it. and even if u could gear it 2 do it. dont think the engine would push it that quick. and it'd b useless otherwise just runnin around.

good luck.
