Hey guys, I just picked up a T-Maxx, A really good deal, but the guy forgot to mention if it was the 2.2 0r 2.5 or whatever the numbers are, how can I differentiate between the different models when searching for parts?

I need to pick up several parts for it, including the "fast wear" parts, fuel line, rubber for the rims, a few loose screws and a couple bulkheads. Just like my other T-Maxx, I need a complete Tranny setup, FOC preferably and a couple replacement shock towers/supports as well as a new air filter. I check out Tower, but only found hop-ups, and I want to keep this one simple and pretty much stock cause I have heard that these things can RIP.

If anyone has any info on the parts or a really good supplier of parts, LMK please.

PS: Also looking for a pre-painted, nice looking body to throw on this monster, so if you know anything or are a painter shoot me a PM

Hmmmmm. the rear skid plate says "TRX" on it...is that a model in itself? Seems I have seen that name out there somewhere...

On a second hand note, upon examining the rig, I see that there are TWO slots for servos up front for steering. Do I have to have both or can I run only one? The tranny in the rig is usable, I suppose but I don't know much about it. From what I do know it has the FOC installed in it, so will I still need a shifter servo?

I only see three total servo placements... Am I missing something? Two for steering and one for throttle/brake functions. Where does the shifter servo go??!

I am SO lost on this guys, but I am willing to try anything.

Sounds like the reverse servo was removed already, and if you already have the foc you won't need it. I made a custom plate to mount where the reverse servo use to mount on my Maxx, just to kind of tie all that together, and give me a nice location to mount my failsafe.

A Maxx only uses one steering servo, not two. One servo is throttle brake, one is steering, the other was the shifting servo, which it appears you no longer have. If you have a foc, you should only have two servos mounted on the truck now.

Yup, I got the FOC gear in the tranny now, pulled up some ebooks from Fast Ed's site and went to picking, pulling and putting back together. Picked up a screw set from Ebay along with some locktite and I am gonna tear the whole thing down and rebuild it.

Thanks for the info, so do I have the 2.2 or 2.5?

I am pretty sure the guy bought it RTR, if that helps

There is no 2.2. There is a .15, a 2.5, and a 3.3

The .15 had a rotary carb, so no bell crank for the carb. The 2.5 had a bell crank for a slide carb, the 3.3 is easy to recognize by the gray bulkheads, and other grayy plastic parts that were black on other models. If you can post a pic I can tell you exactly which version you have. All T-Maxxes were sold RTR.

The a-arms and shock towers are different on a 1.5 than a 2.5 T/Emaxx. I no longer have any pictures but you may can do a search on narrow maxx and find pictures. I think the 2.5 has a hole in the upper a-arm where as the 1.5 is a solid arm. Anyhow, I guess you could also check out parts on Tower hobby and see if your parts match the 2.5 parts. As for the 3.3, they came stock with Revo shafts so just do a search on Revo shafts if you don't know what they look like. If you have a 1.5 Maxx, I would swap in some 2.5 a-arms. You can get a stock set up pretty decent on ebay. It makes the truck about an inch wider which handles way better than the 1.5 maxx.

HA.........HA again I say these are famous last words on keeping it stock....

If you mean Rest In Pieces then yeah they RIP.

You will find their are a few places that need bulking up, especially the bulkheads.

But once you work out the bugs they are really fun.

Well... Guess if it's this popular it can't be wrong. I have searched around and found some pretty nice lists of what people think are good spots to beef up, went ahead and both two complete sets of front and rear WidemaXX setups, just the arms and such, 10 bucks on Ebay.

Got a new set Of pro-line kicks coming to wrap around some old bead locks I have sitting in the pit box.

Methinks I am going to have some fun with this one, even mostly stock. The one thing the guy who sold it to me couldn't shut his mouth about was the mill on it. The EZ start is gone, replaced by a shaft start kit, and the FOC really helps that tranny spin. I think this is gonna be a good rig.

Bit of an update. as it sits now:

Redhatman, if you are still lurking out there somewhere, you should remember the Saleen body, minus a few decals, it's all I had to put on it- bu it looks half decent.

As you can see, it DOES need some work.
