how do i know my engine is going

what are the best couple ways to tell, mine has had about 9 gallons run through, it starts on first pull everytime it doenst cut out or overheat. from what its suppose to be dead by now, is this just an anomaly, i always keep it under 250
 
Depends on the engine. If it's a TRX 2.5/3.3, then probably an anomoly.

I've had budget engines last me 10 gallons or so before they started showing signs of failing.

Typical running signs are:
blowing plugs for no reason
flaming out when running (stalling during normal operation)
very low compression
very difficult to tune and doesn't hold a tune


A good mechanical sign is that you take the piston/sleeve out of the engine and push the piston as far into the sleeve as you can with minimal pressure. If it goes clear to the top of the sleeve (flush with the top) or beyond the top of the sleeve, it's time for a pinch, new piston/sleeve or new engine.
 
it never fouls a plug(same for the last 3 gallons) or about 10 months, it doesn't stall out unless its a tuning issue(i always run it a little rich) btw its a trx 2.5 it either runs 280 when I'm at stock settings or it runs at 240 or lower when i richen it a 1/8 or less on the hsn it never gets in the middle, I've read every tunning guide I've known i just think thats how its going to be with mine so long story short does this sound like my motors going or just keep it going till she blows traxxas trade in is about $115 isnt it
 
I say if it aint broke don't try and fix it. Plus the trade in thing is a waste of time imo. you can get trx 3.3s all day long on ebay for 110 or less.
 
i figured that out about ebay, i never even took a look at engines, if she blows then ill look into it i have a o.s cv-r that i might put on, sell the trx 2.5 as is/ running take the money from that and get the 3.3 or something else, id like to get the o.s 21tm but its price wise its alittle nutty
