So summer is right around the corner and being new to the nitro world i was wondering what is the hottest temps you would run your nitro in. It can get pretty hot out here in Ca. July and Aug temp can be well into the 100's. will running it in those temp destoy my engine?

i lived in the palm springs for 23 years and never had a problem with up near 120 degree weather

its all in your tuning
i would read up and search the forums for tuning tips in hot and cold weather so you know how it effects your engine

Two tmaxx's. one 2.5 and a 3.3.
I haven't had a problem tuning one in yet. I've been tuning carbs on dirt bikes for years so I have a good understanding of what needs to be done to these little engines to make them run good. I just didn't want to go out on a hot day a blow one up because they don't have a cooling system other than straight air flow.

If extra airflow is needed a lot of people also cut holes into the bodies for a better direct blast of air across the engine head

if ur really serious might be an idea to make a duct that goes from the window or underside of car to the head. only problem with that is if u crash it ur more than likely going to damage the duct.

Actually, there is more than one 'cooling system', it's nitromethane and methanol. Running with a proper tune will put enough fuel through the engine to keep the temps in check. Hot, humid, and 110° should get you about 270-300° maximum. Running a quality fuel will help too.
