Ok folks. Anyone else experience this. On my 5th tank my Maxx was runnin at around 280f. 62 degrees outside humidity at around 59%. Settings were factory rich and bluse smoke under throttle. This is too hot. Any suggestions or has anyone else experienced this?

it seems to be a little lean to be running at 280 what u might want to do is give it a tiby bit more gas and see what happens.. to make it run around 260's

If this is a stock TRX Pro .15, 280 is not too hot. It is right in the range for good running. How was the engine performing? Any issues other than a perceived overtemp?

280 isnt hot? dang those things run like a oven, my os runs 200- 220 depending on if its hot

if you got a trx pro 15 get a powerline cooling head for it, it will drop the temp and produce more power and make the engine last a longer amount of time

if its the 2.5 i dont know what to tell ya, i think they make a mini fridge for it but not really sure

what percent fuel you running?

Sky is right, 280 is not hot at all, those mills will run 300+ and still be effective. I run mine about 280-290 with an aftermarket head and mine runs like a cat with a firecracker up it's ass

I should specified. It is the new 2.5 I am runnin. Book say max is 270. It is allready runnin rich. Dunno. Gonna try to tune tomorow and see what I can do.

sounds like you need to be richer;)
Jeez all this talkin about you runnin your maxxes is drivin' me Crazy it's been pouring all week:(

Standard running temp for a stock pro .15 is up to 290 degrees for maxumim performance. You can call traxxas to conferm it. I run all my maxxs at 240 degrees and they run like a champ.

if you are shure that its at factory settings then what i'd do is richen up the high speed needle about 1/8 of a turn keep going like that until the temps has gone down also what kind of fuel are you useing?

If you are still in your break in phase for that engine (I belive the 5th tank is the final tank in that break in), then you need to disregard any temps you might be seeing. The engine will be out of spec until it is fully broken in.

The purpose for the break in is to get all the parts working together and the high temps are probably a result of that process. Once the engine is broken in and tuned properly, check the temps and see what you get.

One thing to note, the manual may say it only takes five tanks to break in the engine. You may find that it takes one or two more to get it all set. Some engines (even within the same manufacturer and same lot) take a few extra tanks to get fully broken in.

Thanks folks, I richened up the HSN 1/8th and the temps came down to 225. Sweet. Now I just gota tune the LSN and turn the idle down. Dont have wheelies yet. I think I can ge tem after tuning the LSN though.
