merry christmas everyone. before i say anything this is for my radio shack battery pack. so you can't adjust anything. when i charge the battery pack it doesn't get hot at all but when the battery dies after running it is extremely hot. i can barely hold on to it. what causes this and how can i fix it?

thanks
Danny

What motor and speed control are you using and in what car? Does your motor get this hot? If so then I would say it is over geared.

Its normal. A slow charge is great and wont heat up the pack. As your running it the current draw will heat it up. The only way to keep it from getting so hot is to not push it so hard. What fun is that?

Have fun.

its the radioshack hummer the one with the snow skiies.

A heated battery pack is normal after running. It shouldn't be extremely hot, but it still is normal for it to get warm.

Now, if it got that hot while charging, I'd worry. I had one that I was charging with a timer charger (about 14 years ago), and the voltage regulator went out (the battery pack got at least 12v), causing a nice hole in the carpet.
