Today for the first time, I ran White lightning in one of my onroad cars.
I ran 30%, with 8% oil.
Before today, I ran Trinity 30% Monster HP.
I figured what the hell and gave it a try.

The first thing I had to do after I had it running was lean it out a bit.
(yes, I said lean it out).
I know that goes against what we all know.
Less oil, fatten it up. No! I had to lean it out.
After I had the Sirio .12 outlaw 5 port turbo making power, I ran a few laps to see how I would do compared to last week.
The increase in power was unbelievable. I was ripping.
My engine has never made that kind of power, so I figured I'd better bring it in and richen it up because it has to be running hot right?
WRONG!! 104 degrees!!
Being that it was running so cold, I leaned it out even more, and the car became almost uncontrolable.
Now it's running at about 170-190 and it's very very hairy.
I will have to get used to driving with the extra umph!

Ratzo's disclaimer:
Results may vary. LOL

i was thinking of tring it but the 8% oil thing scared me off, maybe i will have to giver a shot now ,they do make it in 20% right??
i do not want ot have to stay on 30

I'm not sure if they make it in 20%.
The safe bet would be to stay with what your running, and not worry about it.
I don't want to sound like an ass, but I don't care if I blow my engines up.
Don't get me wrong. I don't want it to happen, but if it does, no big deal.
I for the time being, feel safe using it.
If your running great with your fuel and worried about burning up your engine, then don't change anything.

I have about 2 gallons through this engine with the 30% Monster HP.
I will now only run the White Lightning and see how much longer it takes to blow up.

Thanx for the info. I guess I'll pick me up a gallon of the 40% for this Sunday's race at Prospeed.

your not sounding like an ass rat .thank you for being honest and upfront with me ,
thats why i like this forum above all the others ,just thankful ncnitro hooked me up and refered me over here ,
take care guys and gals .

I think it does come in 20%. Or at least I remembered looking at it. I was thinking of switching myself but like you the 8% had me a little buggy. Engines are easy to hide from the wife, it's a whole new car I have trouble with!

Your engine shouldn't even run at 104-degrees. You should make sure that your gun isn't dead or that it was switch to Celcius. Because there's no way that it can make the temperature drop that much. Also 8% oil isn't for everybody. It's a race fuel designed for people that are skilled with the screwdriver. It makes tuning 100x more critical. So please check your temp gun again. That doesn't sound like a real number and you'll ruin your engine fast.

eh, enuff people finally got me down from 20%/16oil to 20%/12oil. 4get playin w/30%, even w/that higher oil odonnell. it might run cooler, but eh...idk. dont need more power. all tracks here can't utilize it.

good luck

fuel

i have been running white lightning for about 6 months or so and its great. i made the major switch on fuel brands about 2 years ago. i was running trinity and went to o'donnel, what a difference! you want tell much difference from the white lightning and odonnel fuels, both are 8% oils. when i made the major switch 2yrs ago i noticed the change in h.p and running temps, the lesser oil ran cooler, alot cooler. i try to tell new guys coming in to quit running the qrap'ola traxxas, blue thunder, and others, that they will notice a huge difference in performance running 1 with less oils. they even run better as far as not being so temperate,or non idling. glad yall made the switch, you want regret it. as for the 20-30% difference, i run the 30% in everything, with no problems. they do make a 20%. some people around here i have heard of runnning 40%.

Has anyone used SideWinder? I have used O'donnell and it smells like poop!!! Makes my eyes water so bad i can hardly see! I have used MP and liked it, just wondering if anyone used sidewinder? If it sounds good, i may go with that in my rcs...

i ran sidewinder in my rs4 onroad and hpi mt ,and it was actually awsume fuel excellent power i got from it and tuning issues where nill
i was running os .12 and .15 and they came right to life with it ,,then my crappy lhs stopped ordering it and went with nothing but this cheapy S&W fuel ,its ok ,but not the greatest ,

Sidewinder is the way to go! Holds a tune pretty darned well and gives a clean crisp throttle response. I'd take Sidewinder over odonnell any day.

Ah, your are a quart guy eh? I guess its the way to go if its cheaper than the gal at LHS.

I tried the 20% in my Rustler when I had that(2.5), and it ran like crap. I was running 25% MHP,but won a quart at the track and tried it. My 2.5 didnt like it all that well, ran really hot.
Your resualts may vary....lol.....I like that disclaimer

My gun is fine. and so was my friends.
I was running a little rich with the old fuel also. I like to run on the cool side.
I also implied that it might not be for everyone, and that results will vary.
I also know that running too cool can be bad and may cause problems.
Thanks

I dont want 4 gallons at a time, and i dont mind paying like $2 more if the shipping kills you for gallons...
