Today, I was fixing to take my 2.5 T Maxx for a little run. Charged the batteries for the ez start and the ignitor and proceeded to flood the hell out of it. First time I ever had that happen on this particular engine. No problem, went through the usual de-flooding steps, tried it again, but it soon flooded again. I expected a little trouble because of the cold(40degrees) so I wasn't sweating it. Unloaded it again and now the one way bearings starting to slip. First time for this, too, so I said skip it, brought 'er in to take apart. This is what I noticed when I got the motor off:

1. Spurs been rubbing on the intake and the ball cup on the throttle linkage. No damage, just evidence that I might want to consider putting the 20t clutch bell in place of the 18t, and get a larger spur. The 18t ate up to much top end anyways.
2. The motor spins easily, even with the glow plug tight. There's a little pinch, but it was pretty effortless to turn. This is in my 60 degree garage.
3. The one way bearing was missing 2 needles. One fell out when I separated the starter and the engine, but I never found the other. Think it ended up in the engine? Who knows. The bearing was spot less and dry, but it started slipping all at once. I can't imagine where that other needle went, but my guess is that it broke from cranking on the starter like it's an eight day clock!

So, my afternoon of rippin' turned into a new engine. Last thing I expected, but not totally defeating. I have an excuse to trade the 2.5 for a 3.3 now. With the power of a new engine, stock gearing should be perfect, putting moving parts outta harms way. Oh, yesterday I broke the front end off of my E Maxx by driving very carelessly. Moral of the story? Sh@! happens! New bulks and skid for the E Maxx= $20 shipped. New engine for the T Maxx= $80 shipped. No big deal, really. Another moral? RC trucks don't like the cold!
