My brother in-law and I took our trucks out to the beach for some fun for Father's Day yesterday. I wasn't paying attention and ran mine full speed into a 6x6 post and broke a lower a-arm, bulkhead, and a hinge pin (in 2 different places).

Before I buy the replacement parts, what would you recommend for sturdy replacements for the hinge pins and bulkheads? Are the titanium hinge pins worth the $$$?

IMO the hingepins are a consumable product as even titanium will bend. Stay with the cheapo Traxxas ones and buy an extra set. Bulkheads I prefer aluminums there with RPM arms/stock arms. RPM cause of the free lifetime gaurantee. Stockers because they are cheap enough to replace when they do break

Ok, that's what I was thinking about the hinge pins. For the bulkheads do you have any suggestions, or basically any aluminum that's CNCed and not cast?

I thought most titaniums snapped, rather than bent like steel. Bent hinge pins are a PITA

I love my hot racing aluminum bulks. Any aluminum except for integy brand should be fine. +1 on rpm suspension arms and as far as hinge pins the hot racing comes with the c-clip ones and the clips. Plus they have removable centers for easy access to your diffs which makes things alot easier to repair or service.

Bulks - Hot racing or UE (Very hard to come by but amazing quality) Stay away from Integy for suspension products as they use the cheapest/softest aluminums on the market and are nothing but shiny turds.

^^^^ UE has never made bulks

The absolute best bulks on the market are the great assemble rc (GArc) bulks. They can be purchased with in either 6061-T6 or the stronger 7075-t6 aluminum. They also
Come
With aluminum braces

Here's just another idea I'm throwing out there, depending how good you are with a drill and tap.

You can do a captive hinge pin
Capture using ejecter pins or titanium rod. Simply grind
A flat spot down on the pin and drill and tap a hole. Use a set screw to hold your new pin in place. No more E-clips!!

You are correct sir. I meant the "bulkless" conversion and eliminate the bulks all together: http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/cgi-bin/store/10301T.html Not that I've had the $ to purchase but every article/ vid I've seen have been nothing but indestructable

I would go RPM bulks and A arms. I can tell you that the Lundsford Titanium pins are tough as heck. The factory pins are crap. Flm hinge pin are also good quality. Alum bulks are nice until you get a bent screw stock and twist the head off trying to remove it. Also the RPM bulks have a lock set nut in the bulk that keeps the mounting screw from backing out.
