Hey everybody, got myself the high speed third gear set for the savage 3 speed trans. And I'm up to removing the spur gear(77073) to put the (77072) spur. Got the set screw out(z721, red arrow) but the shaft screw(86094, blue arrow) does not want to come out, does not look to be 2mm like they write either. help please!!!

I'm probably wrong but unscrew it as much as you can, and use a set of pliers to get it out.

I can't even get it to unscrew even a little, its like the hexe was already chewed up...its a pain in the a**!!!

Put some heat on it, a soldering iron would work nice. Then Jam a flat blade screw driver into it and hope for the best. The pawl shifter assemblies are not too expensive anyways.

:depress:I've had enough of f***ing around with that, I'm going nuts here:madface:. I'm about to hurt it real bad. Any other ideas before i drill that b**** up!!!!

Maybe try a star head wrench that will fit the screw. A tad big so you have to push/knock it in. Maybe it will have a little better luck getting that screw out. I would recommend an easy out bit but if you had one on hand i'm sure you would have tried that.

Hope that helps some. I don't own a savage, just trying to toss out some ideas.

Blow Torch? hehe Thats how I feel sometimes. :)

Hey BOUTCH same thing happened to me man....I actually had to drill mine out. I got real lucky though.....did it without jacking anything up.....but I developed Turrets syndrome over the whole ordeal. I drilled it then used a Torques screwdriver on the maggot.....that worked. Good luck....
