high hp motors

Well, that depends. I'll assume you are strictly talking about nitro engines for cars/buggies. Because if you were talking any engine, then you'd be talking about big 4-stroke airplane engines. But for nitro engines, it's probably one of the big .30 or .32 big block nitro's that are available now. Since there's no standardized way of measuring hp on these small engines, each brand's hp claims vary and it's really hard to tell which really is the most powerful.

CEN has a 7.7CC, about .46 CU IN, that they claims makes 5hp and tops out at 23K rpm. No idea it thats reliable info...

it doesn't top out at 23k rpm, it makes 5 bhp at 23k rpm, no one can tell what a nitro motor really can do, but In think all nitro motors can get a top rpm of 41000, and with that said anything over 38k is considered unuseable power.

STS..28 + .30DM's, RB 728, Novarossi 528XR are some of the best .30 and .28's out there, as far as the .21''s, Picco P-7, OS V-Spec and any other name that the pro's are running are seriously wicked fast engines, and the .12-.18 size, hands down, the OS TZ series are the best I've run so far.

You're spot on debo, "Engine produces 5.0HP at 23,000RPM" I just made the assumption from thinking about 1:1 engines that the bigger you get the lower the revs are generally.

Actually Coach you are still correct about the bigger the lower it revs. I have a .61 and it is tached out at 15K. The CEN engine puts out a lot of grunt torque....but it is not that fast. If the Genesis was a speed demon truck don't you think every one would have one instead of a Savage, T-Maxx or Revo?

I can remember the Thunder Tiger EK4 .. It had a .70 in it . I dont remember what the horsepower was but I thought it was close to 5hp .

The answer is "NO" because savs and revos are not that fast neither, a monster truck is not supposed to be fast, its supposed to be full of grunt power to do things that buggies and so on can't do, and far as that goes the MGT is still the far best nitro truck out there!!

Everyone has there opinions of when is "Best" however I do disagree with the Savages are not fast. I live in Japan....the Savages are race modded and raced here. Mine was clocked at a shade over 52mph....for a 12-13 lb truck....yeah I think that is fast. But since you mentioned the MGT have you looked at the new 8.o/.50 engine for it?

There is a reason they say 5hp at 23k and that is because the power starts dropping after 23k, if the power would have gone up at a higher RPM they would have let us know.

To be honest I'm not sure why you asked this question, you seem to know everything already.

Get him SMaxxin......MGTs are the only good monster trucks too. I agree there is no way in hell a 7.7 CEN motor can spool up to 41K. No way. Also that is the 5 hp is the "Computer Theoretical Dyno" power rating.

The smaller the engine = the higher the RPM, when was the last time you saw a 350cid small block break 14,000 rpm?!?!?!

I have a 350 that will rev to like...uh 15,000...because it is like a special engine...race engine. Yeah that's it a race engine. They only made like three of them and accidentally put it in my truck at the factory.....lol. I agree with you bentover if you want to see an engine that WILL turn 41,000 check out a .12 or a .15

Not say the 7.7 cen motor can reach a rpm rage of 41000, I was say most nitro motors can especially the O.S 18tz I have one in a cen ct-4 and it BLOWWWWS, and it stops making usable power at 40k rpms, what I was really trying to see what motor can I put in my XTM's monster mt to give it more grunt! It has a"3.5" hp motor now but seems a bit lazy, but once it gets moving it HAULS ASSSS 45 mph for a truck that weighs about 17lbs. But the MGT rules!!!

Whats that supposed to mean HUH!!

MGT's are good trucks but are out sold by Savages almost 2 for one. Why... who knows, maybe because most of the loyal AE folks are buggy/stadium truck people? Can never tell. But since you seem to like AE so much try out a LRP spec 3 Z.28. I have one in my Savage with a 19/47 gear combo and heavy bead lock rims with 40 series Big Joe's I can still flip it backwards......the engine has low end and it fricking well screams on top end too. Not a bad price either. Easy to start and tune. AE did themselves well by backing LRP I think. It has wiped up several OS .30s so far.

What 3.5hp mill do you have in you XTM?
I thought they came with a sportwerks mill or something like that....anyway if it's a stock mill you should feel happy with tons of mills out there......I personally like the Novarossi stuff for racing and the RG (or whatever that new version is) for bashing.....the cheapo OS mills seem to give a lot of grunt and aren't seriously expensive.....but the OS .30 seems to be the grunt mil of choice near me, I just haven't seen one last more than 5-6 gallons though.....
as far as the RPM issue...I had a fantom .27 that rated 2.9hp at 47k and they were supposed to hit higher numbers up to 3.5 @ 52k....I'm sure the numbers were elaborated on a bit by Fantom.....I wish I could get another one of those to run....it was a ridiculous spooling mill and had tons of grunt....it just didn't last for poop......

If the MGT is such a hot truck, how come the Revo is still the Nationals racing champ?

Go to hobbypeople.net and they have an xtm .28 at it give you specs on the motor as you scroll down the page, and I have the 3 port in my mmt, and it runs good, but the tires on this truck are to large, I droppped down to a 40 series and the truck is INSANNNE!

Probably baecause they have that 3.5 motor in them, and I don't really care for that motor, and that they spend alot of money on ads so people can't help but to notice them. AE has been around a long time, lets see if Traxxs can last just as long, I still have a gold tub chassis from the early 80's rc10 and still runs awsome with updated electronics!!!

Thats what I was thinking of next,I hear alot of good stuff about that .28 spec mill, and I think the same thing you said about savs to mgt's, AE are buggy and stadium truck guys, I think they put the mgt out to compete with the rest of the market, and the truck did well but not as well as alot of others, still luv them!!
