The t-maxx is way far better in life and hill climbing and jumping the savage tears a transmition up like its nothing the savage is a strong truck because of the aluminum the t-maxx has more plastic but is made way better then the savage i race my freind all the time on a track and i leave his a$$ in the dust everytime.
:winnar:

yes this has been discussed a lot before. from what i heard was that the savage is more durable than the tmaxx but the tmaxx is faster. that is right out of the box. T-MAXX WINNING, I've had my savage for about 5 months and have jumped it a lot and have beaten it a lot and have never had any problems with the transmission at all. i dunno what your talkin about. hope this helps.
savager

which savage you have the SS because the other savage the tires that come stock on it if you run them on the road and tturn the side grips on the tires are to much for the transmition to handle but i odnt know it just might be my freinds truck but i know that we went to a hobby exspert and he said that your almost guarenteed to tear a transmition or a gear up every month he said that he has teared 7 gears and messed up transmitions since he has had his savage

yeah well he's an idiot.

I run my savage hard and the only thing's that's broken is 1 spur gear, 1 brake disk, 1 or 2 brake hubs, and one steering knuckle thingie. Oh yeah and 1 gear in the reverse module, but that was only because I was and idiot and dropping it into gear when the truck was still moving forward.

savage is cheaper and has more power, better handling, steel dogbones unlike the plastic slotted axles the tmaxx has, metal ball joints cupped in plastic doesn;t cut it either, too easy to break. i have been through 3 savages so far and nothing is better, the only reason u tear stuff up is the inablity to upgrade properly for how u bash, thats all. i have the .46 truckzilla conversion in my savage, my transmission is holdin up great. tmaxx is lighter and faster but has no POWER, just weight to power ratio. its the rice burner of monster trucks, the savage rocks!!!

I have both the.. yes the T-Maxx is faster but the savage is cheaper (only needs one or 2 ubgrades compared to the T-Maxx's 10 or so to stand up to hard bashing) and is much better designed than the T-Maxx in the Beef department...
I drive my savage then go to my maxx and go :OMG: I thought this thing had more power lol..

I'm 38 years old, been into nitro since 1976.

I own a EB4, Nitro RS42, and a 2.5 T-Maxx. (and 7 nitro airplanes)

The T-Maxx 2.5 is WEAK, in it's stock form, but, much easier to work on than a Savage... I bash in my backyard mostly and here's what it takes to run it....(items I've upgraded...stationary objects suck)

RPM A-arms $40.00
GARC 7075 bulkheads $115.00 (on sale)
RPM Axle carriers $50.00
Stainless hinge pins $17.00
RPM Shock Towers $12.00
RPM Skid Plates $12.00

Do the math...Monster trucks cost money to run, regardless of who makes them...

But, my next truck is going to be a Savage; Traxxas screwed me in the marketing ploy of "2.5" I thought the HPI and Traxxas had the same size engine...

PolarPro hit the nail on the head.

I have one of each. My T-Maxx has had quite a few hop-ups to make it stand up to the way I drive. My Savage has only had a few hop-ups (mostly by choice). Total dumped into the T is way more than the Savage.

Were I to choose, I would go with the Savage.

My friend has a savage w/ a bunch of preformance upgrades, and he has broken EVERYTHING!! I beat him w/ a sportmaxx 2spd, and a gpm rear shock tower. THATS ALL. I hate savage!! T-maxx Good! T-maxx Kills Savage IN THE PANTS! Its Got No Balls!:wedgie:. Also i beat it in speed, jumping, cornering, and snow. so its a hands down for the T-Maxx. maybe it was just his driving, and i have heard a lot of opposition for the maxx, but ,my friend is a DUMBASS, so that might be a factor. and also, the savage has 4wd, and sportmaxx has 2, then how did i beat him in the snow?? PURE SKILL!

1 More thing. I have the sirio conversion for my 2.5, And Get it all you 2.5 owners. it is exactly like having a $300 sirio. (installation time, 20 minutes, W/out break in, DUH)

Right on cue. This thread takes a turn down the mine is better than yours road.

RC4LYFE, grab a hold of that search function and put it to good use. You will find that this question has been asked and answered a few times. I know you have been told this, but you can easily find some great information without having to worry about your thread turning into a mine is better than yours discussion.

Willthethrill, congratulations on your ride. If I remember correctly, the Sirio upgrade has something to do with replacing the sleeve, piston and some of the internals with Sirio .18 components. If you did this, and did not take the time to break those components in...I wish you all the luck on their longevity.

i personaly have all the traxxas monsters t e and sport maxx
and i love them but granted I've done alot of mods to them and i tell every one get a t or the sport maxx excellerates like crazy thats all true but man i want a big block and my heart is set on a savage 25 the 21 is ok but the t never had ANY competition until the savage 25 rolled off the assembly line!! i love both trucks so its up to you I'm getting both so ill have the best of both worlds!!:cloud9:

No i didnt use the sirio 18 componants, there are 2.5 sirio piston and sleeves for the maxx. it works great.
And i did take the time. the installation time was 20min. the break in time took about 4.5 hours.
