So now...it's my drive shaft.

I'm just wondering if it's "OK" to drive the Maxx with only rear wheel drive? Or will it put too much force/torque on the 1 drive shaft and snap it right away!

My rear drive shaft broke so depending on the responses from this question I'll swap the front drive shaft to the rear thus giving me Rear Wheel drive until I get the guts to tell my wife that it's broken again!!!! :shhh:

The fun of the Maxx!

I ran mine that way for quite a while. Although, I took the front diff out so it wasn't causing drag. I got tired of having two fried diffs all the time... so then I only had one diff to worry about.

You can do it, but the front shaft is a little shorter than the rear shaft so there wont be as much contact in the yoke. I broke front and rear shafts several times and finally bought some MIP center driveshafts for about $60, I think, and never had another problem. If you can spend that much that is what I suggest, because you WILL eventually spend that much in the long run replacing the stock peices.

noooooooooooooooo!!!! i had the same thing happen to mine and u do not want to do it traxxas made the tmaxx 4x4 for a reason if u have rear wheel drive only it doesn't have barely any traction and it runs the engine at way too high rpm's and it over heats and u will ruin ure piston i had to buy another engine becuase of this it would be very wise to take my advice!:surrender:surrender

The original sport maxx was only two wheel drive...

I ran mine 2wd for a very long time (about a year) without an issue to the engine. You just have to learn better throttle control so you don't spin out all the time. It's actually quite fun to run a maxx 2wd.

Sorry but your wrong. My son has been running a sportmaxx for a long time with no problems at all. It's geared the same as a T-Maxx just 2wd. If your a basher it's much funner than the 4wd.....Killer donuts, more wheelies, more low end power and more top end.

If your engine is running hot you have other problems.

I made mine 2-wheel drive and lowered it in to almost a truggy.....it was a blast. No problems with over heating that were not because of me screwing around.

I'm talking if ure running in lose firt or gravel its not a big deal just watch your temp

i stripped my rear hexes out on my 3.3 and drove it as a front wheel drive, no problem, just noooooo traction.

really fun though.
